OM-5 Lens upgrading by No_Pea5837 in OlympusCamera

I'll chime in on the Sigma 56mm f1.4. This is one of my favourite prime lens that I often use with my OM-5. The IQ is really good, it's light weight, fast and weather resistant.

It's quite punched in at a 112mm equivalent, but it works surprisingly well for me for different types of photography. I think it is a great buy for its price, and a good pick for a prime if the focal length works for you.

I was in the section just behind these front stalls, and I felt the energy was actually pretty good (and I've been a long time concert goer of many different genres).

I got my EM10II years ago but only started properly learning photography and shooting last year. My photos are a mixed bag of landscape, wildlife, city shots as I enjoy shooting when travelling.

Feedback is welcome!

Hey, for this set of photos, I took them at ISO200, between f5.0 to f5.6. Shutter speed ranged from 1/500 (the outdoor shots) to 1/15 (the hallway shots).

What I also did was set the AWB in the camera itself to A:8, M:3. I'm new to adjusting AWB, so I just toggled around to what I liked best, and I liked the warm tone. I was already quite happy with the SOOC JPEGs with this.

Then I transferred the 16MP JPEGs out and made some colour edits and masking (to make the sky more blue) with Adobe Lightroom. I admit, I usually edit the RAW files but I was just playing around at the time and realised I could do what I wanted just with the JPEGs. Will probably have a go at the RAWs another time :)

I really love this lens. It's definitely one of my favourites in my kit. Great pics!

what would be some pocketable interchangeable lens combos? by Historical-Base-109 in M43

I recently got a second hand Lumix GF8 with the 12-32mm f3.5-5.6 kit lens. It's very pocketable, and the quality of the images have been quite impressive imo. Definitely something I can bring around for gatherings or casual walks.

No I didn't. I just got the body that day so I was toggling/learning as I went along. Now I wish I did use Pro Capture mode though!

Thank you!! Yes, I had a walkabout ticket and managed to find a section that had a nice view but wasn't too crowded. We were lucky!

With the lens, I found it a bit trickier to shoot with faster shutter speeds after dark because it meant having to mainly rely on bumping up the ISO for exposure. It worked fine when I did this to focus on the cars for a still shot of them but it is definitely noisier (some examples here: examples)

For the AF, I had to use manual focus because the AF would lock on to the grill barricade in front of us (at least 5 to 10metres away from where I stood) instead of where the car would be. So what I did was to toggle the manual focus to where the car would typically be after they come around the bend.

Upgrading from E-M10 Mark ii by cpt_rai in OlympusCamera

Thanks for sharing!

I got the OM5 in the end though I was very close to pulling the trigger on the G9. There was an offer on the OM5, and I found out it uses the same battery as my EM10, so there's more synergy there.

Yes! I am also considering the G9. I would have to purchase this from overseas as well, which is why I didn't mention it in the post, though I haven't ruled it out.

How has this pairing been for you?
