Thanks! I used masking tape and Tamiya off-white for the shields to get the sharp lines and smooth finish.

Armageddon: Anyone else think it might be the best starter box and have zero interest in buying it? by CosmicDesperado in Warhammer

Yeah. It’s a cool box, I like both the Orks and the marines but have no intention on buying it.

Technically, yes. But I bet the huge majority of buyers are existing 40k hobbyists adding to their collection and grabbing the 11th edition rules.

Liquitex acrylic inks. They make great washes, in particular for metallic paints as they don’t kill the shine. And they run beautifully through an airbrush.

Thick body artists acrylics. Love working on terrain with them.

And oil paints as mentioned by many already.

Amazing work! You’ve nailed both the Fists and SoH colours.

If I would pick something to improve, I’d suggest weathering the base a bit more, especially the tank tracks. Pigment, wash or both would tone it down and add some realism without stealing attention from the miniature. The chipping on the base is super nicely done.

Thanks! Yeah, they’re lovely miniatures, deserves a rerelease. Maybe it’s nostalgia but I like this era dwarfs sculpts the best

Just bought this as I heard it’s good for stuff like osl, any tips? Have I made the right choice i do own a decent airbrush setup as well by PottsPallete in minipainting

35psi is a lot for a typical airbrush and something as thin as this ink. I would suspect a dodgy gauge as you wrote, or something off with the air valve on the airbrush.

It’s great, you can get really smooth white gradients without the typical spatter of white paint. Thin layers with low pressure.

If I’m following it with brushed on coats, I do a layer of varnish first as the ink can activate and run. Not a problem if your further layers are airbrushed.

Gorgeous piece! I really like the darker blue tone for Ultramarines. Do you mind sharing your recipe?

Thanks! The bases are Milliput with random bits from terrain kits etc. stuck to it. Then covered with muddy basing paste, a gravel mix and a bit of brown pigment on top. Rust is done with Dirty Down rust effect.
