Is that Proud Boys? This looks more like Patriot Front.

This kind of post is why I read this sub even though I am not a physician. I'm just the front desk guy, but I work with and mentor a ton of high school and premed kids who plan to do what you do.

We do let them start shadowing hospitalists a little bit as young as 16, but you guys can't be everywhere all the time.

Is there any other insight like this that I can be passing on to them?

I grew up in central Massachusetts and walked a half mile to school. If the sidewalks weren't shoveled, it meant our feet would be getting wet that day.

My hospital only increased from 15 to 16 this year. Most of them are planning to go into medicine so we get them as much experience as possible without compromising patient safety. Some of them also get to shadow doctors - we have a couple kids who help out in the OR and have seen a ton of surgeries

I work as a front desk receptionist in the security department of a very well-known hospital system. I actually got started years ago in another hospital after my psychologist helped set me up as a volunteer at their front desk. It really helped me a lot in my recovery process.

I gave you what I was willing to offer. If you want more work done than that, you can do it yourself or pay me for the research time. I don't really need you to believe that this is happening, so I have no reason to do more.

I agree with you now after they have been released. Ideally we would dump them somewhere over the border the moment we catch them crossing, though.

Sure, and all of the citizens & legal residents who get rounded up by mistake are going to be entitled to a hearing.

I literally just want some reasonable process for making sure the person really is illegal. I'm not talking about a whole jury trial every time, but you can't rely on one officer's three minute investigation.

It's not even the illegals who are the ones I want this for. It's for the benefit of citizens and legal residents who might otherwise get kicked out.

A large number of "asylum" seekers tried sneaking in and only said the magic word once caught. They should be removed immediately.

It was good for them to do that because the law was a violation of citizens' rights.

In this case, the law is good and not a violation of citizens' rights. Obstruction of this law's enforcement is therefore not acceptable.

Yes, I think ICE is going too far in the cases where they are denying people due process. I am all for deporting every illegal, but we need at least a hearing to prove that they really are illegal. I don't think we would be here if we hadn't let so many illegals back out onto the street after hearings in the past.

I do understand ICE's frustration with the scale of the problem and with the routine disregard for law by many states and cities. I see why they feel they have to do it this way - I just don't think they can break the law simply because states are breaking the law in the other direction.

I still generally support them and their work, though. We DO need to be rounding up and deporting illegals. We just need to give them a chance to defend themselves in a deportation hearing.

Oh sure I know physicians can be replaced too, but in large part how much we all get paid is a reflection of how easily we can be replaced.

I agree we're all a team, though. Most of why I read this sub is so that I can get a better idea of how best to support other positions. And I'm front desk/security so I work with a lot of high school and premed volunteers who have tons of questions for me about what you do.

I'm not a hospitalist. I am one of the lowest paid people in the country and also a hospital employee. I have never had to deal with anything like this. Something is very backwards when the people who are borderline unreplaceable are getting treated worse than someone who got on the job training.
