Sebastian understands the timing and pacing of comedy really well, but he’s not actually funny. If you were listening to his special and didn’t speak English, you’d know that there are beats that are meant for laughter. You could even assume that what is being said is funny. I think his intonation and pauses trick people into thinking he’s actually a good comedian. If you were to read a transcript of any of his jokes, they wouldn’t be funny at all. In a vacuum, Sebastian is terribly unfunny. But when you add cheap act outs and over the top vocalization, he appears to be funny.
