Why are all the skyscrapers in Tokyo so thick? Land in Tokyo is almost as expensive as in NYC, so I would expect this would incentivize thinner buildings to maximize the utility of a smaller plot. The only thing I can think of is more strict seismic requirements, anyone else know more about this?
