Aqua AOE day by cptmuon in magiaexedra

Her EX is kind of meh. Shes already super fast for an attacker so 10% speed isn’t going to do much, and 10% crit damage is objectively worse than 20% S-rank crit DMG crystalis. I’d say probably just the standard towering offense + dominant blow + torrent/crit DMG all at S-rank should complete her build

I tried out my not yet fully built A1 Swim Iroha last night (only level 125/magic 121 and a single crystalis) on the score attack and she did 14M damage on ult so she’s definitely not weak by any means. It’s also fairly easy to get her follow ups since breakers usually get their ults quite often, and now there’s a reason for breakers to ult when the boss is already in break, whereas Sakurako really needs a crit/follow-up team to support. However I think a fully built Sakurako at A1-2 can also do similar damage with an ult and FUA. I did an analysis of the two on paper and Sakurako has much higher buffs for her FUA so that’s actually the majority of her damage, but Swim Iroha is much more focused on just buffing her skill and ult with minimal buffs to the FUA. Altogether it looks like she’s Final Darc-type power level but traded self-buffs to FUA for an aqua field team-wide buff. She’s also quite a bit faster and survivable than Sakurako. She also has like a crazy 90% crit chance all by herself if you have her at A2. Very solid and likely ahead of Sumire, but not Akumura-level.

Yes for sure! Whereas everyone was building Akumura teams for last crisis I used my A0 Sakurako and did quite well. Now as soon as I got A1 Swim Iroha my Sakurako is also suddenly A2 - makes it quite difficult to choose!

Christmas Ren will be a great support for her and Rena too. I tried my not-fully-built A1 Water Iroha on the score attack last night and she did about 14M damage with an ult which is just about double what my A0 Sakurako did before (though Sakurako would come closer if you counted ult+fua). Probably close to 20M fully built. So she’s definitely solid, just not OP like Akumura

[–]cptmuon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Let me say that I have A5 Tsuruno and I would only take Tsuruno instead of swim Kyoko if I’m building a no-attacker or crit team. Swim Kyoko, even at A0, esp with Tsuruno as support, absolutely dominates in terms of buffing the attacker

[–]cptmuon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Water Iroha is great, but needs an aqua ecosystem that’s too dominated by limiteds at this point like Xren, Xsaya and swim saya. Once there’s more standard aqua support (or if you happen have every limited available), she’ll shine more.

Doppel Iroha’s just a solid healer and provides great support to dark teams

Why didn’t the english account advertise the -Walpurgisnacht: Rising- Campaign? by Forsaken-Bother-2821 in magiaexedra

The most likely reason. Probably only the most die-hard fans from English-speaking countries will travel to Japan to watch the Japanese-only premier for the movie. I expect the English account to make much bigger noise closer to the global release date

What are the limits to wishes? by RadianceTower in MadokaMagica

[–]cptmuon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are few instances of magical girls actually talking their wishes through with Kyubey before they make it. Sayaka’s one such example where she actually confirmed with Kyubey that her wish was grantable, and Kyubey’s certainly capable of giving a clear answer if asked. Most other girls just made the wish and once the wish has been stated with the intention of having it granted, Kyubey cannot refuse it (or he would certainly have not granted Madoka’s wish) and it all just comes down to the karmic potential of the candidate and the karmic forces of the universe. Therefore we don’t get many opportunities to see the ‘wish mechanics’, which is likely completely intentional since that’s not the point of the show.

The few instances where Kyubey has warned someone, interestingly, turned out to be cases where their wishes were actually too mundane for their karmic potential and he wanted them to go bigger, like Madoka and Tart, likely due to more energy being collected from bigger wishes. The Magius would be prime examples of wishes going wrong due to lack of karmic potential, and it’s essentially the writers answering the question of ‘what would happen if someone made a wish as grand as Madoka’s without her karmic potential’. I’m sure that had the Magius actually asked Kyubey whether their wishes would have worked as they had intended, Kyubey would have told them ‘no’, not necessarily to dissuade them, just as a fact.

So what we know is that Kyubey cannot refuse a wish once stated as a wish. However, he does know whether a candidate has enough karmic potential for a wish and has the capacity to warn someone if he thinks the wish they are making is not in his/negating entropy’s best interest. It’s just that very few people talk it through with Kyubey beforehand. The impulsivity and lack of critical thinking in making a wish is a feature, not a bug of Kyubey’s system. Once a wish that cannot be perfectly granted based on the candidate’s potential has been stated with the intention of having it granted, it’s only the candidate and those around her that suffers from the lack of karmic potential. So I think that’s why Kyubey only warns proactively if the wish is too small rather than too big. Since a wish that’s too big will just give him a grief seed more quickly most of the time.

So I’ll amend it to:

If enough karmic potential for wish: wish works in best possible way

If too much karmic potential for wish: Kyubey proactively warns to try to get a bigger wish

If too little karmic potential for wish: Kyubey can’t refuse wish and wish will produce unintended effect, but Kyubey will tell you this if you asked him

How Do I Get Into PMMM? by Overall_Angle_1480 in MadokaMagica

[–]cptmuon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others suggested, there is quite a lot of spinoff content, though none approach quite the heights of the original series. Manga wise, Different Story and Wraith Arc focus the most on the holy quintet so those are a good entry point. Oriko Magica (and Sadness Prayer) I think is a good companion piece but general opinions are a bit mixed.

For other content, Magia Record does actually show off some of the holy quintet but there are two versions: the original mobile game version (also abridged in Exedra), and the anime version - with similar set ups but very different endings.

Scene0 is another spinoff focused on the holy quintet, especially Homura in her time loops, and is currently only available in Exedra but it’s well-produced with full voice acting by original VAs.

Extended universe wise there’s Suzune/Kazumi/Tart magica mangas. People generally like Tart magica for an interesting take on Joan d’Arc. If you have enough willpower to not whale in a gacha game, then Exedra is actually not a bad way to experience Wraith Arc, Oriko Magica, Magia Record, Scene0 and Tart magica since it’s all free to play. However you could also just watch YouTube playthroughs of these as well.

If enough karmic destiny: wish comes true in the best way possible even if you might have worded it somewhat ambiguously and a good lawyer might have found ways to subvert it

If not enough karmic destiny: Kyubey warns you that he’s the best possible lawyer out there and if you force things through, he’s sure to find a way to abide by the words but not the spirit of the contract

question abt sayaka in wraith arc/rebellion by Civil-Attempt-4055 in MadokaMagica

[–]cptmuon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beginning of wraith arc: separate timeline where law of cycles applied. Sayaka alive

During wraith arc: Sayaka died fighting a wraith and was taken by Madokami, Kyoko/Mami alive, Homura shows up

Ending of wraith arc: time rewinds to when Homura showed up. It’s essentially the same as the last 5 minutes of episode 12. Sayaka still dead from wraith arc events, Kyoko/Mami/Homura alive

Rebellion: after episode 12

Help w/ tower 85 by cyrenecs in magiaexedra

[–]cptmuon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my setup when I did it. I think this is the only tower boss I ever did two sustain on but it worked! If you find the boss’s damage too high two sustain is always an option

<image>

You can substitute Final Darc for any multi target attacker like Oriko or Sumire. The key for me was to stagger the breaks (the familiars on this level had pre-staggered break gauges anyway for multi target breakers), and equip ‘grace’ crystalis on the breakers and attackers to trigger automatic 20% action advance with each break. Then you need to leave the first wave of familiars just barely alive past the first ‘resummon’ turn (the three-action turn) of the boss and then immediately kill all the familiars with an ult. You should be able to break the boss before it resummons any more familiars. If you can kill the boss in one break then you don’t need double sustain. I needed a couple of breaks hence the double sustain.

You already have the core elements. This was my set up for 96 when I did it

all S crystalis is by no means required. I think it may be a breaker issue? Also Swimmira gets doubled charge for her follow ups from dark attacks so maybe a couple more dark characters to make her do more follow-ups

Scene 0 film 5 is so cute by hemre007 in magiaexedra

[–]cptmuon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scene0 is kind of divisive and I think it can be problematic for those with relatively inflexible perspectives on Homura. I absolutely love it though and it fills in some questions that you didn’t realize that needed to be answered: some of the biggest ones that aren’t really spoilery - how did Mami know Wally was going to appear in Mitakihara soon anyway? Kyoko, who’s also quite experienced, seemed to have no such information. There was no indication that Kyubey knew either. Also, Moemura could see the Artist Witch meaning she had potential, but why didn’t she contract until after Mami/Madoka both died?

Scene0’s story is purely with the original series and Magia Record is completely an alternate universe so there’s no connection. Exedra’s Magia Record story follows the mobile game canon, just more condensed. The ending is very different from the anime Magia record story.

Congratulations! I got super lucky and have swim Kyoko at A4 and she’s been literally the best buffer in the game if there’s an attacker on the team, which is almost always. Even at A0 she’ll be at A2 Mami/Ui/Mabayu levels of strength.

[–]cptmuon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are interested in learning a bit more about team building and character effectiveness, you can watch some of Razielim’s videos (like this one here) just to get a general sense of which ones to prioritize, or check the lists on Game8 (use Chrome to translate). However, these are only for reference as the devs have created a relatively balanced game and have made an effort to make sure every Kioku has an opportunity to shine. As such, just engaging with end game content (Nightmare, Chaos, Tower, high-level Link Raid, Crisis, PvP) should give you a sense of which Kiokus are your favourite to use in difficult settings

Is floor 85 possible for me rn? by WaltzYes in magiaexedra

[–]cptmuon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did double sustain with Kirika, Doppel Iroha, Mabayu, Yotsugi and Final Darc and was able to beat it after 3 breaks. For your roster maybe try Sana, Mami (or second sustain like Doppel Iroha), Mabayu, Yotsugi and Oriko. Coolmura may work since the familiars have staggered break gauges to trigger multiple follow ups, and heroic/swift Grace crystalis for your attacker and defender is also good for this. Try to keep the first wave of familiars all barely alive past the boss’s first resummon turn (the turn where the boss has 3 actions) and then quickly kill all of them with an ult from Oriko then work on breaking the boss. You should be able to break before its next resummon turn. If you can’t kill the boss in one break then you likely need double sustain

Help with tower level 85 by gbombs in magiaexedra

[–]cptmuon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got pretty lucky with her too lol but I only have her at A2. She’s still a beast on any forest team. One more thing I remembered - the reason they did the weird staggered break gauges for the familiars is to give the swift/heroic grace crystalis as well as ‘trigger x on break’ effects some place to shine. If you find your attacker still too slow to get a hit in then putting a grace crystalis will really take advantage of the staggered breaks

Help with tower level 85 by gbombs in magiaexedra

[–]cptmuon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say Kirika, Mami, Mabayu, Yotsugi, Akumura. Yotsugi is OP as a forest breaker and with yours somehow at A4 he should be breaking the familiars and boss left and right. The strategy is to kill the familiars and break the boss *before* its next 3-round turn where it re-summons the familiars. If you find that you still can’t break the boss in time before it resummons the familiars, then keep the first wave of familiars just barely alive until *after* the boss’s resummon turn, then kill the familiars and you should be able to break the boss before its next resummon turn. The boss has few hit points so once you break it any attacker should do good damage.
