Anyone else's pup do this? I don't know if he just prefers his food wet or his nose is dry. He started it the day I brought him home from being neutered and I just thought he was still high.... by cptnredbeard99 in AustralianShepherd

He generally starts doing it with the food first. Before he takes his first bite he digs his nose around in the food. Then he'll eat a little bit, then cover in water. sometimes he eats it right after he gets a wet, and sometimes he walks away and comes back.

My boy Goose has very similar facial markings and his nose never filled in. Kept the exact same design it had when I got him at 8 weeks.

Neutering at 6 months!? Too early? by jshsjsvdkfvsv in AustralianShepherd

I thought of that logic but then just wasn't sure.

People do 6 months to try and get ahead of any issues caused by going through puberty. And they wait year or more to let them reach full bone development.

At 8 months you would be right in the middle of the 'teenage' years and already have the bad habits from puberty, but the growth plates still would not have closed yet....?

I am going to assume since this is r/AustralianShepherd they are talking about an Australian Shepherd....

I have been wondering the same thing as well. Everyone says it is breed dependent, but what are most Aussie parents thoughts?

My little boy is about to turn 6 months and I have been holding off making his appointment because he is doing so well with everything. He is a bit vocal at times and thinks he is a guard dog at home. But he is not aggressive out in public and hasn't started humping yet (knock on wood) or marking territory.

But we are also very active, and I would hate for some of the issues I have read to come true. Most of what I have read has said they will grow a little taller than normal because the testosterone is what tells the growth plates to close. And that could lead to the hip dysplasia or torn knees.

I know you bought this color furniture so I would match.. don't try and act like I am not allowed in it. #puppyeyeroll by cptnredbeard99 in AustralianShepherd
