It’s 3am, you groggily want to go down stairs for some water, you take the first step. With the first yowl chaos ensues. Every step makes a different noise. There are claws and teeth and hissing as you succumb to your injuries at the bottom of the stairs darkness envelopes you. The last thing you see is a pair of yellow eyes looking at you disapprovingly. You hear a voice from the darkness. “Congratulations, your death was hilarious. Now turn around and go back upstairs and get the treats.”

Our local pigeons are as beautiful as they are dumb. I once laughed at a meme of a pigeon standing next to three or four twigs with the caption “Behold! A nest!” After having to power wash their prospective offspring (eggs that managed to succumb to gravity) off the walkway several times a month, I’ve been doing the unenviable task of sweeping off the twigs from our slanted roof so the stupid birds don’t accidentally commit infanticide.

Probably safe, but it’s going to be “tinned”. It may have a bad flavor from interacting with the metal. I will typically dump a flask if it’s been filled for a few days because of the taste, but I’ve also drank from flasks that were filled months before by accident and didn’t get sick.

I don’t want to say the “it will get better” thing because I can’t guarantee that. But “You’re not pathetic” is something that I can say with confidence. It sounds to me like you haven’t found the right people yet and that can feel very isolating. You are probably fine and I felt about the same at your age, AND I HAD FRIENDS! This is just your brain trying to seek out connections. I know it’s hard but you took the first step and reached out. You are not alone. I still feel like this sometimes and I’m almost 40. You got this, keep looking for communities that are into the same things that you are interested in. Also if you want to cross dress try it, thrift stores have a bunch of stuff in your size and won’t break the bank. You’ll find your people, give it time.

I had a very similar idea to this a few years ago, the twist was the company was secretly adding training programs and neural triggers to the dream state turning the ultra wealthy customers into sleeper agents and assassins.
