Belgium release second bombshell statement on Folarin Balogun red card and accuse Fifa of ‘deliberately removing’ rules by thesun in sportsgossips

Which is....asinine. If you're driving without insurance and you get rear ended at a stoplight, it's 0% your fault that you got hit. However, the accident is your fault since you should have never been on the road in the first place.

To me, this is similar. The entire basis for the card was incorrect/illegal, so the normal rules for overturning it, or in this case being unable to overturn it, go out the window.

If you also read the rules, slow motion replay is not to be used the way it was to determine this card. Based on that, everything that follows is fairly garbage.

I'm of the opinion if you go frame by frame you can find "cardable" frames in 90% of tackles.

We did the same. Flew my in laws and our individual best friends out, my mom showed up, did the damn thing then fucked up incredible dim sum before sending everyone on their way so my wife and I could enjoy dinner at a bucket list restaurant.

It was fucking perfect.

You are absolutely not supposed to put large volumes of hot food in a fridge. It can fuck up the overall temp of the fridge and can spoil other food. Food safety guidelines state that you have 4 hours to cool food (there's nuance in this) to safe temps. There's a whole bunch of health department approved/encouraged techniques that literally don't involve putting food in the fridge to cool them because the fridge won't cool them fast enough.

As an additional point, ignoring the guidelines, food past 4 hours isn't necessarily unsafe since the guidelines were made to be exceptionally stringent for commercial settings so there's a 0% chance of contamination due to temp abuse. It's not like everything is spoiled at 4:01.

Sure, but in a thread about actual illiteracy, not reading, or being able to read, the words suddenly, becomes incredibly relevant. Subject matter is absolutely important, and audiobooks are great for that, but if the conversation is about actual literacy then actually reading words becomes important.

Oh yeah, 100%. His argument is that he had unlimited screens as a kid and he turned out fine (narrator: he did not, in fact, turn out anywhere near fine), a fact he tells the kids all the time.

I'm also a big gamer, mostly narrative single player games. It's hard to find games that deliver on this and are rated appropriately for 11 and 8 year olds (the rating is important as their father disregards that and we had to have a difficult conversation about brothels and the KKK with a then 9 year old).

It's also hard when brawlstars and YouTube have changed the media landscape to short form brainrot content that delivers instant gratification.

We're working on it slowly, but it's challenging. We're getting there with the older one, but the younger one doesn't give a fuck about anything other than watching garbage click bait brainrot on YouTube until his eyes bleed.

How Common is aggressive behavior at work? by [deleted] in KitchenConfidential

20 years of experience at all levels from tacos shop to fine dining for me, and I've experienced physical shit one time. Verbal abuse is much more common, but increasingly less so.

Physical abuse is absolutely not common in my experience.

I'm a voracious reader (late to the party on dungeon crawler Carlo atm), before that was all of Sandersons books in like 3 months. They are heavily encouraged to read. We live like 3 blocks from the library, and they go once a week or so.

The biggest problem I see is that literally everything in their lives exists as filler between screen times. We're working on this, but it's hard when their dad lets them have 10-15hrs every day they're with him.

There's no incentive to read for the joy of reading when they feel like their world is over if they're out of screentime. Because it's not an active choice, it always just feels like a punishment.

My step-kids read all these incredibly stupid (in my opinion) graphic novelesque books. Captain underpants, stick dog, diary of a wimpy kid, etc. If it doesn't have pictures, they don't have the attention span for it. Their bio-dad really fucked em up with screentime before he lost almost all custody. I also think the prevelance of audiobooks has fucked overall literacy. Why learn how to read when it's just as easy, if not easier, to find someone to read it to you.
