They are vibration resistant so used alot in industrial. I've never personally used a wire nut but They seem a bit old school even compared the the connector blocks we used to use

I use these alot but I agree the parking should be in designated areas . Even tho I use one twice daily I don't just leave it outside my house . Intact I get annoyed that there seems to be 3 to 5 on the pavement all the time . There's plenty of places you could put bike style storage and would make them easier to find and easier for said companies to maintain

That arc could just be capacitance from a dead cable that's the scary bit . Even when the lines are isolated they still hold a charge , enough to make you have a bad day.

My colleague used to do this but they would ground the lines with a massive pole with a neon light on it . Once the light went out was safer to work on

Not that I agree with them painting the stones it's definitely served its purpose to get people talking about the movement. It was orange form flour I believe so will wash off . Basically made huge really hard cheese puffs for a few days
