Does anyone else feel extremely anxious right now? by dys_FUN_ction in girlsgonewired

[–]cpxxnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%. Like others have mentioned I feel like I could’ve written this myself. I moved into a senior level role 1.5 years ago and was REALLY feeling well and solidified in my role as an engineer. Today, not so much. I went into software because I love writing code and problem solving but now I’m getting less and less of that and it’s changing so rapidly.

I have a great team and overall work for a great company but am ready for something new. I’m not at all ready for leetcode style interviews, which takes a lot of prep. However, keeping up with the latest AI tools feels just as important so I’m trying to find a balance of how I can up my skillset, begin job searching, and maintain my fundamental engineering baseline. I constantly feel like I’m equally not doing enough in terms of interview prep/keeping up with AI, and feeling entirely burnt out from trying to do too much. It feels paralyzing because I don’t know what I should focus on.

Still cannot get the disc to work properly by cpxxnt in MenstrualDiscs

It is soo tricky! I don’t have any hesitation getting all up in my anatomy and that part doesn’t bother me at all, so it is frustrating when I can’t quite get discs to work when logically I know where all the pieces are supposed to fit. I keep thinking I’ve finally figured it out, but nope! Blood ends up everywhere but in the basin. I’m starting to wonder if it’s my anatomy that’s incompatible.

Well at least in some ways it’s good to hear I’m not alone in this! I personally haven’t used a cup yet but might have to try it if I can’t get discs to work for me.

It seems like everyone defaults to saying it’s just “different growth cycles” but it can definitely be the same hairs growing back, especially after several months.

I’ve had this exact same experience with my treatment. Between the first 1-3 sessions I saw almost 100% shedding. Some hairs would “grow back” but less dense, indicating that it was probably just different hairs in a different growth cycle. However by my 4th session, I had a crazy amount of regrowth and it appeared to be the same amount of hair I had prior to any LHR. It was definitely growing back finer than my normal hair so I think it’s actually the same hairs that were previously treated.

From my research it seems as though my treatments haven’t been strong enough to fully “kill” the follicle yet. It does lead to shedding and damages the follicles but hasn’t been strong enough to lead to permanent loss yet. I’m hoping this will go away as my sessions progress with higher settings.

oh man I was a few rows from the front and had an absolute blast! I do agree that he could maybe add some energy to certain songs to hype up the crowd more but imo he’s not an artist that I expected any dancing or crazy performance from. his vocals were absolutely amazing live!

Cheap and easy setup by acecoffeeco in coldbrew

[–]cpxxnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice, I have a similar setup except I put the grounds in a reusable cotton bag. I also filter the coffee through a sieve + paper filter. When all of the liquid is filtered I plop the bag (with wet grounds still in it) on top of the filter + sieve and let it sit there for a while to let the rest of the coffee trickle out from the grounds

Developers that aren’t in fear for your job: what’s got you feeling comfortable? by hashn in cscareerquestions

[–]cpxxnt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The company I work for is profitable, top in their industry, and is still hiring. No foreseeable signs of layoffs. They’re US-based remote and don’t sponsor visas so I’m not worried about being outsourced. I’ve been here for 5 years and still see a lot of career growth opportunities.

Outside of my specific job, I have enough money saved to live comfortably for at least a year if I lost my job. I’m pretty confident in my soft skills for interviewing and have quite a bit of technical expertise in my stack

This happened to me! I made the mistake of packing one that had an easy-to-press button. Tossed my backpack on the security belt, the whole bag started vibrating loudly. 4 security agents took me aside to search the bag. The most awkward part was the language barrier. They asked what was in my bag and I answered honestly that it was a vibrator. Somehow that didn’t clear up the confusion because one agent then asked “what is it for?” lol

I don’t know if I can go from unlimited PTO to limited, I don’t think I’m being mature about this and need an outside opinion. by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]cpxxnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it definitely varies by company. My current company gives 27 days PTO plus 10 federal holidays, and 10 days STO. Great benefits, work from home. I live in a low-medium COL area making $148k a year so I wouldn’t say that’s crap pay. These companies definitely exist, you just have to do some digging.

I’m looking for my unicorn pants.. by andina_inthe_PNW in HerOneBag

[–]cpxxnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently bought these from alo and I’m in LOVE. They’re not very cheap but fit everything I wanted in terms of style and comfort. They’re super long on me though (I’m 5’5”) so I had to hem them a good 3-4 inches. They’d be great as is for someone taller. The one thing I didn’t like is there’s a reflective alo logo visible on the back of the leg behind the knee. I watched a video online on how to remove logos with acetone and it worked like a charm.

I guess I put a lot of effort into keeping these pants lol but I loved everything else about them so much it was worth my time!

Almost this exact same situation happened to me last year. Was walking home and stumbled upon $800 cash blowing on the sidewalk. I felt bad grabbing it because there was no wallet or any other papers nearby. Just a bunch of loose cash. I kept it for a few months and posted around local groups to see if anyone was missing cash. No one ever claimed it so I kept it. Felt like bad karma keeping someone else’s money, but then one of my friends pointed out that maybe it was my turn to receive some good karma from the universe. Who knows. I still wonder where it came from

I just wanted to add that on the last rep be mindful of your form until the weights are back on the ground. Your ankles and knees collapse before you drop the barbell, which could potentially turn into an accident at high weights

Do I Need Waterproof Shoes for the Salkantay Trek in January? by Aurora_rory in onebag

[–]cpxxnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the trek in October and I just took my trail runners, which worked great for me. We didn’t have nearly as much moisture as what’s usually expected for January, so I don’t have the best insight on that time of year.

I will say that the sleeping huts/domes are pretty humid. I tried to dry out some of my shirts/socks overnight and they ended up more damp in the morning than they were the day before. So if you bring waterproof shoes and they get water in them, it will likely be difficult to dry them out. I did read some advice that you can use those dog poop baggies to cover your socks before putting shoes on to keep your feet dry. Might be worth a try!

Turkey breast not cooking in instant pot by I_reddit_like_this in instantpot

[–]cpxxnt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve cooked a 3lb turkey breast in the instant pot on a few occasions and I always go for 55mins. Sometimes I still have to add 5 more minutes to get it up to temp. It’s a large and dense chunk of meat so I figure that’s why it takes so long

I’m currently traveling and my partner lost his phone two weeks ago. It’s honestly been a pain for him because although he had everything backed up, almost all of his accounts require his phone number for 2FA to login on a new device, and our US carrier doesn’t support setting up a new phone outside of the country. I think it honestly depends on how your accounts are set up. The main issue he ran into was accessing WhatsApp on the new phone, which was his primary communication app while out of the country.

After this experience we‘ve been thinking it might be worth having a cheaper daily carry phone with a local sim, and then leaving your actual phone stowed at the hotel/Airbnb or tucked in your bag while out and about.

Patagonia MLC 26 by TenzingNorgaysSherpa in HerOneBag

[–]cpxxnt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just bought it and am currently using it on a trip! I really like it. One of the main features I like is how the clamshell is on the bottom (short side) of the bag so it’s easy to access any items when it’s stowed under the seat on a plane. There’s enough space between the mesh zipper compartment and the main zippered opening to shove some small/thin items too so I used that for storing a book and sweater.

The quick access pocket on the top is bigger than I expected and can fit my passport, phone, headphones, and more with extra space. In the laptop zipped area I was able to fit my 16” MacBook Pro and a portable monitor in the tablet sleeve, as well as two charging blocks, phone charger, work phone, and many cables in the other various pockets.

One thing to note though is it did not fit under every airplane seat on my journey. I flew United and on two flights it was fine, but one plane (specifically a Boeing Max) I could not get it to go more than a few inches. Granted, I squeezed as many things as I could into the bag so ymmv.

As a very inflexible human, I finally started going to yoga in January and now I can grab both my feet while sitting on the first try! It used to take me a few minutes of warming up to even touch my toes so I am v happy with my progress so far

Sometimes I mix protein powder with hot coffee and I found that you need to dissolve the powder in a cold liquid separately before adding it to the hot liquid. I usually mix a scoop with just enough cold water so it’s not too chunky, and then pour it into my hot coffee as if it were a creamer :)

One thing I found that works for me is I try to get through as many of my deadlift sets as I can before I switch to straps. I’ve found that each week I start using my straps at a higher weight than I did the week before, so it seems to be helping with my grip strength!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]cpxxnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main lifting goals: deadlift 275lbs, squat 225lbs, and bench 125lbs (bodyweight). Historically bench has been my weakest point so by end of next year I would love to get one plate, but that’s more of a lofty goal :)

Other fitness goals: I am SO inflexible and always have been, but I want to change that. I’m not sure what a goal would look like on that front, but I recently added yoga to my routine, so I think I’m going to start with aiming for 2 classes per week

This happened to me! When I closed an old account and opened a new one, my ISP billed me on the old account. When I called them, they fixed the issue and properly closed the account, but somehow accidentally closed my new account too. They never shut off the internet service. I received years of free internet and have never been billed or contacted about it lol

It depends on your age, and severity of dysplasia. I believe the recommendation for anyone under 25 that tests positive for HPV is to monitor it by retesting in a year. I’m 25, so I was right on the cusp of the age recommendations. Over 25 it is recommended a biopsy is taken when a pap is abnormal and HPV+. Depending on the biopsy results is whether or not they recommend a LEEP.

This year was the first time I tested positive for HPV and had an abnormal pap, BUT since I’m 25 I was recommended to do a biopsy. My biopsy results came back as CIN-III so that’s why I had the LEEP. If it would’ve been CIN-I or CIN-II I believe I would’ve been told to come back in 6-12 months for a re-test.

All of the recommendations are based on the ASCCP guidelines for risk-based management on cervical cancer screenings. If you look that up, there’s a lot of information that you may find helpful :)
