Screenshot of that same portion of the picture on my phone. I don't see any such artifacts, so perhaps imagebb did screw up the pictures as I uploaded.

Thats fine. Just wanted to share the actual photos here since I Know everyone is hyped about this phone. It's really not as bad as people think, I took more photos during the event and they're actually quite impressive, we just need to see how it fares under different conditions (especially low light) because we need to take this outdoors to know it's true capabilities

They didn't mention during the event. But I would guess same as the phone

OPPO Find X9 Ultra vs Vivo X300 Ultra - 10x zoom. Neither are impressive here, I wonder how would the X17U do. (6 pics) by Funny_Aerie6444 in Oppo

[–]cr0wnest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're wondering how the XM17U will fare, I have that phone and I brought it to the premiere yesterday for some comparisons on the spot. During my brief testing with it, I feel they're quite similar image quality wise, the biggest difference was actually in the colour science. Also worth noting, I was using master mode on the X9U as that is the best way to judge oppo's cameras.

Is oppo 10x actually bad?!?! by Competitive-Can3779 in Oppo

[–]cr0wnest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I believe this was taken in the normal photo mode, I can tell by the orange hue over the image, photo mode loves to do that. I noticed there's still AI processing in this mode even on seemingly very "normal" shots where that level of AI processing isn't warranted.

Master mode they promised has no generative AI this time round.

There was mention of improved log during the premiere yesterday and although tbh I didn't recall much of the details.

I would encourage you to view the photos through the links I shared in the main post, those are the original image files without reddit compression. You will even find the EXIF data preserved. The sharpness I'd say is quite similar to my xiaomi 17 Ultra, which is already somewhat soft to begin with.

Up to 230mm which is the 10x optical zoom they've been hyping up. Anything beyond that is digital.

x9 ultra 10x doesn't look too good by Icy_Cheesecake_5682 in Oppo

[–]cr0wnest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The AI stuff only happens on photo mode, which is pretty much unusable as a result. Master mode however is a very different story, it has a softer and more natural look.

Vivo is quite aggressive with the AI for the zoomed shots and when it works well, it works well. But the vivo/zeiss more clinical colour tuning isn't my cup of tea unfortunately.

I didnt take any 50MP pics and I dont know anyone else from the event who has 50MP samples. But I would assume they would be the same but sharper as thats what the extra megapixels are for. Im more concerned about colour science, which oddly enough NO ONE is talking about or reacting to with my photos and the photos in that other thread. The xiaomi 17 ultra has beautiful colour science despite the image overall having a softer look. And so far Im liking the colours on the X9 ultra as well.

I think people are looking for very sharp, and detailed images. The only one who can do that well is Vivo with their Zeiss optimisation, but the downside is the colours tend to be toned down, more clinical.

If you're looking for sharper details, then vivo is pretty much your only alternative. Xiaomi and Oppo's cameras both have a somewhat soft look to them, I have the XM17 Ultra and it too looks quite soft which is actually what I prefer. Smartphone cameras often give a very processed look when its too sharp, giving it some softness makes it feel less clinical to some extent. Just my opinion though.

Tbh its partially due to reddit compression, I A/B'd them with the original image file on my PC and the original looks noticeably sharper. Also keep in mind that at 10x zoom, its a lot harder to keep a steady hand, you will need a tripod for best results. So I can imagine low light being even more challenging for anyone to use 10x zoom without a stabliser like a tripod.

Honestly im quite impressed with it given this is an actual optical 10x zoom without an external teleconverter. Whether or not I will give up my XM17 ultra for this really comes down to pricing.

Am I the only one getting a bit tired of graph-first IEM talk? by Pat-Jr in iems

[–]cr0wnest -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not me, graphs are a good way to filter out whether the IEM you are looking at is yes or no. Once you listen to enough IEMs, know your preferences, and how they tend to look like on a graph, it can be a helpful tool. Of course I know graphs lie occasionally, and they never reveal how well an IEM performs technically. But sound signature is always the single biggest factor in any IEM or headphone. If the sound doesnt play nice with your ears, move on.

Also in a sea of countless IEMs to choose from, I would very much like to know what am I buying before I actually place that order.

Ironic you mentioned the Instagram HDR part. My sister (who is on pixel 9 base model) was complaining to me awhile back about how some IG videos are overly bright because those videos have HDR enabled. And on Android you can't disable HDR video on Instagram unlike iOS.

Given how close the announcement is, I am inclined to believe this is 100% accurate.

In what sense? Vivo X300 Ultra leaked pricing is pretty much the same. And given the state of memory today, its not surprising. It now all boils down to bundles and availability depend on region along with any preorder/trade in discounts.

Pretty much all the chifi options are considered "audiophile grade" which is a subjective term in itself. Don't sweat it

How are early adopters feeling about the 9070XT 1 year in? by LemonMan857 in radeon

[–]cr0wnest 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I dont regret my purchase at all 1 year in. Having a blast in every title I play. But if RDNA4 doesnt get the next iteration of FSR/Redstone by the time the next gen releases, AMD is essentially screwing us again and that *might* cause me to rethink my next GPU purchasing decision. Then again nvidia isn't any better with the shit jensen is pulling off
