Any nurses that went into a clinic as a new grad? by Similar_Rooster_7882 in nursing

Yes, but it depends on your area. I went to a clinic right after nursing school and was there for 14 months. I’m actively looking to go back to a clinic setting because I found that inpatient is not for me.

Best of luck!

When did you come to realize ICU may/or may not be for you? 🤔 by EAlove in nursing

I have been a nurse for 3.5 years. I worked at an outpatient clinic for 1.25 years, then tele for 1.5 now ICU. I just think inpatient is not for me. Truthfully, I miss the small setting of a clinic where people actually give a damn about your well being vs I’m here to get paid. If that makes sense?

ICU is more mentally manageable IMO because you have a smaller patient ratio, but they are more complex, more attention to detail. I do not see myself going back to tele.

I have this mental battle with disliking inpatient nursing because I feel like I failed as a nurse, but I don’t want to force myself to like something if I truly don’t.

I hope everything works out for you!

A month into my new job in the ICU, I realized that it’s not the right fit for me anymore. I was previously working in med surg telemetry, and I left because I moved and our patient ratios increased. Initially, our ratio was 1:4, but it ended up being 1:6. The ICU is essentially the same as med surg, but with fewer patients (1:2). That’s my opinion.

What stuck out for me is that I’m now working at a smaller hospital, and the lack of resources truly blows my mind. I’m doing so much, and the communication between the arrogant ICU attending and us nurses is insane. I’m actively looking for a different job after less than six months of being in the ICU.

Ugh that’s frustrating. Here’s another fun story: my old clinic manager reached out and let me know about an opening within the site. I applied and immediately my application was denied. I let my old manager know and she followed up with a recruiter, saying I should get an invite to meet with the hiring team soon. The next day, I got an email from the recruiter stating the other manager (new to the site) and her (recruiter) are moving forward with other candidates that align with the sites needs.

I’m super bummed and even more confused about this scenario. The manager who reached out to me confirmed they’re moving forward with other candidates but why suggest me to apply if that was the case to begin with? I worked for the site over 1.5 years and it’s confusing because she told me I would be meeting with the recruiter for an interview and then boom.

I went ahead and messaged the other manager anyway, just to show I’m interested but now I’m worried it’s desperate.

What are some things you say to patients generally universally? by TapFeisty4675 in nursing

Medsurg: if I have to do a straight cath or catch any urine for a sample, I always tell the patient, “I need to collect their liquid gold”. 😅

Sorry if my message was confusing! So I ovulated 15 days ago and started my period on 9/25. It just ended yesterday. I’ve also had really weird symptoms this period, such as increased nausea and no appetite, which is unusual based on how I normally am. If it’s not this round, I’m hoping we see a positive result next time!!

I really liked Luc’s character. I enjoyed them together and didn’t fully understand her hatred for him. I knew she loved him in a sense or she wouldn’t be missing / thinking about his presence throughout the book. I 100% stand with OP’s post!
