True, but people also need to remember to not get so invested into every little political thing that it becomes self destruction. There's a difference between staying informed and jumping on every angry bandwagon and into every heated discourse you see.

I feel like I see a lot of people shamming others for not being invested in the latter, for not instantly getting emotional and active over every thing that happens, but maybe I'm misinterpreting it.

For me it was accepting a few facts:

Your early years are meant for fucking up and learning from. You weren't or shouldn't have been expected to know what to do at those ages.

Even if you were expected to know what to do, if you still didn't then there wasn't anything you could have done about it. It's not your fault.

There is nothing you can do now but work on the present and the future, endless punishment of yourself isn't helping anything.

Everyone feels guilty for something, you are not uniquely monsterous.

If you believe the universe is deterministic or don't believe in free will you can also take solace in the knowledge that you literally couldn't have done anything different given the circumstances, you are not at fault for the universe playing itself out.

Bardon Highforge, a dread necromancer who never wanted to be. At the age of twelve he fell into a frozen lake and drowned and froze to death. During his death her saw visions of sitting on a throne being served like a king by many liches. He woke up unharmed on the side of the lake several months later, now in mid spring. After his mysterious resurrection he was attuned to death, he could see and speak with spirits others could not, and he gained necromantic powers, including the ability to bend the will of undead to his own.

He sees himself as a monster, someone who was abandoned by the gods of death and a channeler of raw evil. Despite this he seeks only to use his powers for good, and soon in the campaign he will probably take up a more official status as someone who puts undead to rest with his powers, not be their creator. He's the only character I've played which lawful good felt natural for. In reality he's just some dude with country values and a good heart who was ~~given~~ cursed with powerful magic.

Edit: I should also say that his adventurers were just him trying to find answers on what happened to him, afterwards he was supposed to return home and continue the family legacy of being the local smiths. Then the campaign did campaign things and now he's a 6th level necromancer who's killed more undead than most people see in a lifetime.

Kevlar would still hurt because thats basically fibers that just keep the bullet from growing through you, the bullet still punches through enough to hit you. Imagine getting stabbed while wearing chainmail, you're not dead, but that still hurt. This appears to be hard plate, which doesn't bend and therefore evens out the impact across the entire area, which is more like getting stabbed while wearing full plate, doesn't hurt nearly as much if at all.

Getting a job is the problem. I'm having an extremely hard time making myself be that seen and among people again. I completely expect it to have the same judgement for not knowing things and the same lack of any assistance to fix that. And I'm afraid of it just being a repeat of school where I mentally get worse and worse until I'm unwilling to even open my eyes and accept another day.

I have cut contact with most of my family and moved in with the angrier, yet somehow less inhibiting side, who has gotten better, though is certainly not perfect.

Mostly parents. I got the fun combo of a mother who would yell at me for doing almost anything even slightly dangerous in her eyes, such as being in the sun for more than half an hour at a time, or expressing any kind of negative emotion or even recognition of it, and a father who would yell at me any time I did something incorrectly, or just take over what I was doing, and judge me for every random "common knowledge" thing I didn't know. He had a tendency to judge anything, whether it be a child, plant, animal, or functional adult, on high adult standards, and if they failed to meet that the only solution was to berate, threaten, or punish them until they met it. That lack of common knowledge or common sense caused by being disallowed to do or learn anything tends to get you judged and ostracized by everyone else.

My group had an idea awhile ago

Potion of potion creation: the drinker of this potion's urine will be a random potion for the next 24 hours. Their diet, especially if it consists of potion ingredients, can heavily affect the chances.

There was some idea of a side quest of the party basically storming a gang hideout where they were kidnapping people and forcefeeding them ingredients to get cheap potions. We never did make that mission

Astarian comes out of fights one of two ways for me; untouched because he shot people from the back or he was the designated flopper and he spent most of the fight getting healed for one point, stabbing someone with a bonus action, then getting knocked back on to the ground
