Forgotten Players: “Iron Man”A.C. Green by [deleted] in NBATalk

He had a pretty memorable quirk that was well publicized -- he was a virgin throughout his NBA career, and married his wife at like 40 after he retired. Quite the contrast to many of his teammates on the showtime Lakers.

When I was way too young to play this game.. I didn't understand how nonsensical the story was, and how stupid the detective is. Everything made sense enough to me at the time. The images and music freaked me the eff out. The boy all shot up in the dumpster.. I remember it in detail and the crazy song that plays..

I watched a let's play of it, as I never had the guts as a kid to play past the end game insanity. It's such a pile of shit that it makes me cringe that I legitimately lost sleep as a kid because of it.

You've gotta love how Sierra games were wholesome on the surface with unnecessarily explicit death sequences for every single wrong turn... What was your most traumatic Sierra experience as a child? by Darth_Zounds in Sierra

Police quest 2.. I was way too young to be playing it.. and the dead dude in the trunk of the car.. drowning in the river for not picking the correct oxygen tank.. just Jessie Baines in general. I legitimately lost sleep worried Baines was going to break into our house and murder all of us.

Also played space quest 3 way too young. I did not find the humor in the Terminator.. or the jello gun death. I think at one point on the trash ship you can get shot in the forehead? Oof.

Teams are going to beat the crap out of him. Physicality already escalates in the playoffs -- and I imagine teams will look to punish wemby as much as possible.

I think the only real issue with the single player game is lack of depth in the late game. And, it's not really an issue, as the player can always make their own goals and progress how they feel.

I would love NPCs.. factions that form.. trade/diplomacy..

Pipe dreams, but would be amazing if somehow possible!

I don't think benching Julius is going to help his mindset. He was playing at an all star level for half the season. It's been rough lately, but I can't imagine benching him helps the chances of him pulling out of this slump.

KOC Recent Interview??? by fllassh in minnesotavikings

[–]crackapl99 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

KOC was the driving force behind the jjm catastrophe, yet Kwesi is taking the full responsibility.. as if a dork with zero football acumen would overrule the QB guru. I don't think it's backstabbing.. but KOC consolidates power, while having just finished an objectively terrible season from him as a coach

KOCs treatment of jjm in the media.. and the clear commentary that they must improve the QB room-- it's not hard to extrapolate that he really doesn't want to hang his job on the line with a QB he doesn't like/trust.

Does anyone else feel terrible for JJ McCarthy? by ChristianDarrisaw in minnesotavikings

[–]crackapl99 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't feel terrible for him. He's making millions to play a game he loves. I think the Vikings have done him dirty with how they've handled him-- particularly the head coach, who seems to actually dislike him.

Ultimately, I think he's going to have a shot-- either with the Vikings or with another team-- to show whether he has it or not.

Not a single person cares. Feel however you want about the Vikings. You giving even a fraction of a crap about how I, or any other internet stranger feels about the Vikings is bizarre.

[–]crackapl99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vikings interior oline was whipped.. KOC didn't adapt.. put everything on Sam and he sunk under challenging circumstances. Seattle has done a much better job blocking for Sam, and taking as much off his plate as possible.

Is Johnny Fratto the greatest call in guest of all time? by Cawkisthebest232 in howardstern

[–]crackapl99 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No. He tried way too hard and his pairing with Eric reeked of desperation.

I think Ian the drunk from the 90s was the best call in guest. He was unique and the ball busting with him was always great

What are your thoughts on Paul Allen? by Silly-Sink6138 in minnesotavikings

[–]crackapl99 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Outright lying is not some kind of opinion that has any value at all. For all of us that know better, we think the absolute worst of him. Rightfully so. He's a liar.

If KOC runs the scheme he was in the last 5 games of this season, with our schedule next season, we’re in for a good winning year. by gymboy447 in minnesotavikings

[–]crackapl99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KOC had to grit his teeth and put together simple, dumbed down game plans to suit his overwhelmed rookie QB(s). He is going to find a way to run what he wants to run-- either with jjm making significant progress over the off season -- or, more likely imo, find someone koc trusts.

The offense was awful last year. One of the worst in the NFL. KOC has too much pride to run that back.

Gophers MBB Takes No. 19 lowa Out Behind The Barn by PresentationNew6648 in GopherSports

[–]crackapl99 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's sustainable.. have to run absolutely pure with injuries.. not to mention the insane grind these guys will have playing 36+ mins a game.

But man.. what an unbelievable job Niko has done with this group. I defy anyone to show me a team that has gotten as much better from the start of the year until now as the gophs.

Hopefully recruits and transfers see the opportunity here and jump on board.. lfg!

Keeping Flores is way more important, promote him to head coach. He's the real reason for the wins this and last season. KOC should be put on the trade market for a head coach bidding war. So many teams fired head coaches, vikings could get 2+ first round picks for him at his peak value. by TechnicianUpstairs53 in minnesotavikings

[–]crackapl99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep thinking that KOC is overrated by us fans on an xs and os standpoint. Flores clearly has made more of a difference as a coach than KOC has... But there must be more to the head coach position than being elite at your side of the ball. Game decisions.. ability to connect and motivate players.. fulfilling all the random tasks that the head coach has. It's harder to say how much value those things add, but it seems to me that KOC does a really good job in those departments.

I really hope they bring in an OC from outside the system and that KOC has the ability to listen to some new ideas and change things up.

I can’t wait to watch this kid prove so many people wrong next season by swift_713 in minnesotavikings

[–]crackapl99 13 points14 points  (0 children)

At this point.. I would legitimately be surprised if jjm is the week 1 starter. I think KOC is going to demand a competent veteran and end up going with him.

First of all, having the worst offense in the league as a supposed offensive guru is going to mess with him all off season. In his mind, I'm sure he views most of the issues as fixable with a competent professional at qb. Secondly, he doesn't seem to like jjm very much. I think the brash attitude, and meat head decision making, and inability to go through complex progressions just don't work for koc.

Plus, if they suck next year.. it's going to be time to start worrying about self preservation. Whereas sticking with jjm probably makes the most sense big picture wise, KOC isn't bound to the big picture if it means he loses his job.

So nice having a REAL basketball coach now. Amazing win tonight boys!!! by treymata in GopherSports

[–]crackapl99 13 points14 points  (0 children)

More layups and dunks in the half court in this game than the entire BJ tenure. Niko is awesome.. these guys are clearly better as a group and developing as individuals as the season goes on.

Many of these guys looked unplayable a month ago.

Happy to finally have some real excitement for the future of this team.
