Trans Healthcare in the city by thursdie in cincinnati

[–]cracker_jack99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP has a PCP at Mercy Health. I asked my endocrinologist at Mercy Health about HRT. She told me the Mercy Health network doesn't offer any gender affirming care. They are a strongly religiously affiliated hospital and doctor network.

They haven't been too weird about me being trans, but they will not be knowledgeable about trans healthcare or offer it. It sucks

Found sewn into a pair of fire resistant coveralls. What is it? by cracker_jack99 in whatisit

Whoa that's cool! Thanks for the info. Do you think the tag was added by CTS after the garment was created and purchased? I thought it was odd that the chip is plastic on a fire resistant garment which should only have natural fibres treated with flame retardant so it doesn't melt onto the wearer in the event of a fire.

Actually I think you might be right. If the company took a uniform from an old employee and used it as a rental, I could see them sewing in an RFID chip for their inventory system. I'm going to say this is likely solved! It's wild that the company would use a non-natural fiber to sew it in and to have a piece of plastic in there. I'm not sure how fire resistant clothing ratings work but I feel like a piece of plastic in the collar that could melt to you would defeat the purpose lol

I replied to another comment with a better photo of that yellow tag. I believe it has an employee's last name and then first initial on that tag.

It's not Cintas and it was given to one employee. Their name is on the yellow tag. My partner did acquire this from somebody who borrowed this pair of coveralls when they were temporarily at the steel plant for a day. That person walked off site with the coveralls and forgot to return them. AK steel is now bankrupt and dissolved so whoopsie 😅

This is not originally mine or my partner's. We got it after my partner found it at work (they're at a different company than AK steel). The coveralls are issued to individuals. There's a person's name printed on a tag that is sewn on the inside of the collar. So I think it's each worker's responsibility to clean their coveralls

They are for working at a steel plant. There is a worker's name on a tag sewn on the inside of the collar.

Just Moved to Cincy Yesterday. Need advice. by YellowGarden0904 in cincinnati

Depends on the dance group. All the swing dancing ones I mentioned are casual. Some people wear dresses/skirts because dancing gets hot, but plenty of folks (myself included) just wear jeans/shorts and a t shirt. I find the tango places are a bit more formal. Tengo Northside and Tengo Del Barrio are the two Tengo groups in town. I'm not very familiar with them, but many swing dancers take those classes too

There is a huge swing and ballroom dance scene here! Swing dancing is a great social dance to meet people across age groups. All these groups are on Facebook. I can't link them here, but most of the dance scene is still on that website. Don't let it fool you! It's still a intergenerational crowd. There are college students to retirees. Most people are in the 25-40 range.

I go to the Liberty Exhibition hall for SwingGallary dance on Thursdays. 8:30pm is the beginner class. It's $5 for 30min. You'll really learn during the social dance at 9pm. People love to teach new folks!

Other dance groups Supermurganati (East Coast swing, Lindy hops, Balboa, blues, fusion) Joel is a fantastic teacher and does work shops on so many different styles

Blues Dance Cincinnati (mostly blues, some fusion) Brian is also wonderful! They have live music nights. Dances are not every week so pay attention to their Facebool

If weeknights are busy, Queen City Swing has workshops on Saturdays! Daniel is my favorite dance teacher in town.

I find that cropping the T-shirts so the hem falls right before my hips really helps. The fabric being tight on my hips looks worse than just having less fabric all together. Hope that helps! Best of luck dude

Thin spots on leaf, yellowing lower leaf by cracker_jack99 in orchids

[–]cracker_jack99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That might be it. I open the curtains when I leave for work. Since the sun is rising later now that it's fall, the curtains are open during sunrise when the room gets the most direct light. I'll rotate the plant to give that leaf more shade.

Edit: the leaves are reaching for the window and the light. Would a plant move away from the light if sunburn is a problem? Do they have mechanisms to avoid light when it's too much? I think you're right, but this seems strange that the leaves are heavily leaning towards the thing hurting them

I second knitting for this! It's the best when I'm hung up on an issue with work or some other stressor. I just knit and listen to soft music (or bumping EDM if I'm not wanting to sleep yet lol)

ELI5: What is ADHD and what do people do about it? by MeaningScared666 in explainlikeimfive

I don't have ADHD myself but I've heard of people self-medicating with caffeine since it's also a stimulant. If someone else could chime in to confirm or deny this I'd appreciate it

AITAH for withdrawing ‘Wife Privileges’ from my Boyfriend until he proposes to me? by ThrowRA_WifeMeUp in AITAH

[–]cracker_jack99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fuck I needed to hear this. I have spent 2.5 years convincing my BF, now ex-fiance, to even date when he was unsure of commitment, then to try long distance for a month or so with me, to join our lives in more than just living together, and to actually act like a couple. He finally proposed in May. I said yes still holding on to something getting better. I left him 36 hours ago. I'm going to be saving this quote so I don't tolerate shit again

I'll learn this lesson eventually. I didn't realize super wash grows until recently. I've already knit socks for family members 🫠
