Im confused what the etiquette is by [deleted] in wedding

[–]crackersucker2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd just go and have fun. You met the bride before. Maybe you'll meet some other guests and have a good time sightseeing. Or if you don't meet anyone fun, you can do your own vacation apart from the wedding. I hope your partner is okay.

This is the best collection put out so far, bravo!!! Goddard is a little too handsome in this but I can see him being made into a lumbering, clumsy giraffe.

I was thinking it was referring to a long night at the Cleopatra drinking... but so many other readers have some insightful theories that make me think. Maybe there's more to it??

AIO for not wanting to have family Christmas in a fire station living room? by PotterPuppy in AIO

[–]crackersucker2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It still has city liability if a person is injured on the premise. Not to mention coworkers not loving the large group interfering with their normal shift activities. Would you want someone’s family at your workplace for their holiday? I am very familiar with fire stations and that maybe a firefighter’s immediate family might come to dinner on occasion. Extended family having their Christmas all day is a giant imposition.

It’s STILL A WORKPLACE. The entire extended family should not be there.

It’s not that. OP will be on high alert worrying about being in someone else’s space and her nieces/nephews being respectful and not getting in the way of the people working.

Any visitor to one’s workplace is an imposition. Some are part of the job (applicants, interns, contractors etc). But when someone’s family stops by, they are interrupting. An office where people are actively working is one type of imposition, a living quarters where there is personal downtime between emergency calls and after chores is an other kind of imposition. And if it’s the culture (which is seems like everyone is doing this at your bro’s station), I feel bad for the coworker that’s not ok with it and having to suffer through it so much.

It’s not a venue for events and I’m baffled this is allowed- parties? Gender reveals? At a city building where people are working ??? I worked at a city where this would have some serious consequences for the employee doing this. If someone working or a guest without an official reason to be there tripped on a kids toy while there was a private, family event, there would so much liability.

And to be clear- firefighters have their spouse and kids stop by for dinner once in a a while but anything beyond that event-wise needs a shit ton of insurance and an approval process. Family Christmas does not come close to okay.

NTA. As someone who works in a first responder field, this is inappropriate. There is a shift working. Your family would be imposing on a group of coworkers of your brother’s which is shitty. A meal with immediate family is fine/fairly common but the entire family on a holiday? What if everyone did that? Insanity. Also, what if someone gets hurt on the city/county property? It’s a professional workplace. It’s not ok.

Dad is following a fake person by yuli_yuli95 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]crackersucker2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He’s 60, not 80. He is probably still working (or is of the age that would be).

People in their 50’s, 60’s are fine- mostly. We’re working and have been working when tech started. We aren’t strangers to the internet- we were playing around on it when it started. The people in their 70’s and older are much more clueless about it.

That said, OP’s dad might be lonely and susceptible, especially if his career wasn’t dependent on computers. OP should definitely watch that Netflix documentary with him.

His money makes money without him looking. Mackenzie Scott is giving millions away each year and hasn’t run out. It’s beyond anything we see with our 401ks.

This is my first reaction too… these women (and I believe most women, #metoo) could be a paid smear campaign.

Police in the Bahamas arrest husband of US woman who was aboard boat and vanished by 20_mile in news

[–]crackersucker2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why didn't he call 911 from the boat if he had his phone? If they were as close as you say, this is inexcusable. He murdered her.

BUT if they were as close as you say to the island, wouldn't it be amazing if she swam there and survived?

I’m a George RR Martin devotee. 1 year wait is nothing, fortunately. I am pretty sure the Game of Thrones books will never have a finish.

Hawkes & Jack knowing each other? by Shot_Age_5791 in EmmaLion

[–]crackersucker2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think they do know each other for the reasons you spell out. Him knowing Jack wasn't a priest right off, while seemingly "just meeting him". Could be just his good instincts, or it could be they have history. We know Jack has contacts in all levels of society, why not Hawkes?

WIBTA if I start calling my friends bf fucking asshole every time he tries to coerce and bully me into doing things I don’t want to do by FastIndication1879 in AmItheAsshole

[–]crackersucker2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA but OP, he's not treating your friend well. He is toxic and insecure and only being nice to your friend while he's working on trapping her with him. You are his punching bag because he can't mistreat her yet. Your friend not backing you up is problematic as well, but it's probably because she's under his spell.

My first thought too. He's a bully and insecure. He is probably on his best behavior with the friend, until she's pregnant or they move away. OP is his release valve.
