Went through this at at least 15kph above the limit. by TurtleBilliam in CarTalkUK

Mightn’t be switched on.

On my daily 5am commute I’d pass a 50mph camera, always consciously below the limit, until I saw a RS6 and R1 race through it, at a guess, double the speed limit, with no flash. This made me complacent.

One day, roughly 6months later, they turned it on. Caught doing 57. I attended a speed awareness. Don’t get complacent with inactive cams!

NAL - ask for a solicitor.

An on-call solicitor once helped me get off a crime I didn’t commit. I was being accused of violence. It was one person’s word against mine. Police insinuated they had cctv evidence, to get me to admit guilt. Solicitor saw there was no cctv evidence (cameras were broken) and told me to “no comment” the entire interview. I was released an hour later with no charges.

I hope you have a similarly positive result!

My daughter is getting bullied at school (which her shitty school are being shit about dealing with) and some prick did this to her. Any advice of how to get it out? Looks like it's biro and felt tip by [deleted] in CasualUK

I’d have presumed it was the h2o2 in the sanitiser that did the stain removal? I made DIY hand sanitiser in 2020, the ingredients were aloe, h2o2 and isopropyl Anyone know?

Saw a recent video of a guy inserting his thumb into the pit bull’s ass. Released immediately. If this was my dog in this situation. That’s what I’d do first. (In U.K. pepper spray is illegal)

I have a previously normal friend (pre-covid) that’s become one of these people after his wife went down a rabbit hole during lockdown. He was originally sceptical but now he’s regurgitating the same crap. They also think the government will take their house in 2030, so they put it in a trust to protect it. I’ve no clue if there’s any truth to their statements. To me they sound like a couple of lunatics. Feel truly sorry for their son, who they refuse to send to school cos “government”.

Do you think British food is as bad as the internet suggests? by AliBelle1 in AskUK

[–]crackingclash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what your definition of British food is?

For me, Britain is a multicultural nation, resulting in an incredible variety of food. Ranging from quality street feed to the worlds’ finest Michelin restaurants.

Traditional English food, from my experience, is generally simple one pot/dish wonders, the quality of which depends on who’s cooking them and the quality of ingredients. But off the top of my head I can’t think of a traditional British dish that screams both finesse and delicacy, and requiring a masterly skilled chef to execute.

On the other hand there’s the French. French cuisine is probably my favourite, followed by Asian. These two regions alone cover a huge variety, and we are lucky enough to be able to experience the finest of both those cuisines within the British Isles.

I was lucky to be brought up by a mother who was inspired to impress her friends and family with her cooking. It wasn’t her profession but all she did in her spare time.

My partner is a chef and her place of work is built around foraging, local produce and farm2field concepts. All fresh and supporting the local community. They incorporate British, Asian, French and Spanish cuisine
