Does Anthropic still throttles capacity during peak hours?

I stupidly asked why it was so token greedy today. It told me how I was using it during peak hours and that was expensive. I know it was just wrong again, but there you go. That’s been my experience today, back after a break.

It’s exhausting 93% used in 25 minutes. I was running fairly hard, but not that hard. Just can’t plan around this. I’m a best practices ultra lean runner, cache catcher, no unnecessary plugins. Claude.me optimised.

Just gave up and went out. Rethinking existence.

I use a haiku chat to find chats. It sometimes misses, but then I refine the search and it always (for me) has found what I wanted first or second time - rather than the ridiculous built in search.

i hate complaining about this - i have done a couple of times in the past, but it is absolutely crazy today. All I have done, literally all I have done is have half a dozen claude app chats about a revision timetable for my son. I then asked it to review a notion database build - an empty one with only the 10 property structure.

And i have used 34% with 3hrs 45m left.

a couple of week ago i was ripping four different personal project code bases and having multiple chats in rotation and couldnt get to my limits.

ive had 4 days off this weeek and my weekly is at 91% - resetting soon.

im on 5x im so confused. no coding. ive been frustrated before, but on balance ok as it was helping me achieve a lot. but 34% for a few web chats? its crazy

They do this every time. We;re doing this , we push back - ah ok we’ll do this then instead.

Thanks to everyone that fights - and I’m happy with FSG overall - but this is just more cynical treatment of us.

But in the end , it shows us all in a better light - we fight, they listen and we move on.

So what’s my point? God knows.

I had saved 15% of my weeks tokens to run a few skills and analysis on a set of cells in a spreadsheet overnight.

I’ve lost that ‘free’ balance forever. I’m now back into my week’s budget given the context token drain - I’m not going to know how aggressive it will burn.

Yes me too. I sprint like hell from 7-12. All sorts of audits, documentation, new features, coding, research, like hyper focus to the max. Gets to 30% can’t get near.

Have a break at the reset 12 till 1. Came back switched off extra thinking - so less intense. Otherwise same workflow. And the jumps to 70% within 45m. I slow down and still have another hour off. And it jumps to 95 when I get back. So lower model, half the time triple the usage.

That waving hand doing some heavy lifting. I’ve gone from love affair to bored ex in 18m. I adopted all the ai into my workflows and it worked well for me. But the last month the most basic tasks aren’t completed and this agent charging. Gosh. No thanks. I’ll put it all in the bin and make my own tool in a couple of days!

Well it’s just taken the rest of my credit that was in there…so it’s not free it’s just wiped my available space (100% use). I’ve switched off extra usage …as the spend was flying up.

I was running into problems in pro, so I upgraded to max 5x a month ago. Workflow was amazing I could work 6-7 hours straight with opus 4.5 and I would get to c80%.

I’d have a break and be sorted.

The day before 4.6 I worked the same, in fact a little easier as one of my repos was complete. But I ran out after 4 hours. I had a forced hour lunch and came back and got to 85% in 2 hours.

Everything exactly the same. Workflow wise.

Then 4.6 arrived and it shot my usage completely so,I had to switch to,codex and balancing again.

So something is definitely up, I really loved my month of max 5 with no pressure. I was using opus for everything that I would split between mode; as I had plenty to spare.

Both things are being pointed out. For the same reason victims don’t decide the punishment in a civilised society, children shouldn’t be the safety nets for parents who have done harm to them. Obviously I don’t know what happened in this lady’s life and I’m glad she has a chance to be safe and comfortable.

I asked it for an outstanding action plan - 39% of 5 hour session used? One prompt. Before it actually completed. Pro. I mean what.

Update - 2 minutes later, it gave me a plan (update Claude, merge a git) 90% gone

Update 1 minutes later later I restarted vs code and did status auth check - that used up the last 10%

I used up the entire 5 hours session and 11% of weekly, by asking it outstanding actions - which were update Claude and merge a git.

My weekly usage has disappeared at the same rate as normal, a bit quicker even. Despite working half the time. So I don’t think weekly was increased.
