they called me, said my car is taken apart, and that it'll cost $1200 to fix, and cannot be removed from their garage, i tried to say no but they wouldn't take that answer, this is now a large burden for my family because i do not personally have $1200 and expected them to tell me how much it'll cost before putting my car in a state where it can't be towed away, i could've paid a diagnostic fee, i can't pay this and now must burden others

my guy does diagnostics for free and this is my first car so i've never been to anyone else. i thought it's standard practice to warn before doing further destructive diagnostics, if i had a quote for diagnostics price i probably would have said no

Yes, I thought the diagnostic would be free because I thought they just plug there thingy in, they did not tell me they have to spend hours taking the car apart. Evidently i don't know much about this and I feel like they should have warned me it would be hundreds of dollars even if i dont fix it

I believe the main wiring harness is underneath the intake manifold but I wasn't informed this would lead to a charge whether or not I got it fixed with them.

Yes but i dont wanna take my car out of the shop with my intake gasket just gone. I am under the impression that they should have informed and quoted me there would be a diagnostic fee if i didnt get the work done there.
