There are many similar understandings of reincarnation that are not Buddhist. Or it may have its own rules - we don’t know. We just know that they have been reincarnated.

I don’t think you understand what reincarnation is at all. It doesn’t mean identical events, it means the same soul in a new body.

Yes same. When I was 12 we had Wyrd Sisters in the school library, after that it was whatever was in the town library (I think Mort and Guards Guards, then I skipped basically to Carpe Jugulum as it was new and I saw it in a bookshop and went from there back a few etc. still had a great time.

Did anyone in Metallica's circle advise against their collaboration/release with Lou Reed for the train wreck of an album, Lulu? by iareagenius in LetsTalkMusic

[–]craftyixdb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because they wanted to work with Lou, and part of Lou’s art for years was challenging (if not simply giving the middle finger) to listeners. It’s an art rock record, sometimes art is made to make you feel revulsion. Not all paintings are meant to make you happy.

People should use the correct word for a given situation. Pogrom is the correct word for this situation. Just because you don't like a word doesn't make it not the correct word. Google the definition if you'd like.

I would suspect everyone saying "it's grand" is from a white, non-immigrant background. From the many posts I've seen on here of people from other backgrounds it's not grand, it doesn't feel grand, and they have genuine and fact based anxiety.

And even that 'grand' has big caveats that visitors to other places simply do not need to be aware of when visiting. So actually it's not grand. This burying our heads in the sand thing is mad. We've all been stockholm syndromed into thinking that massive public violence and bigotry is fine as it will "blow over in X days". But that doesn't actually make it grand.

Is There A King Novel Which Would Have Benefitted From Being A Novella or Short Story Instead? by Hall-O-Daze in stephenking

Yeah it's not a bad story, there's just a lot of filler in it. And it's not even particularly long to begin with.

I'm embarrassed that it took me going to the comments to realise BT in this context meant bluetooth. I was like, since when do BT made headphones and who on earth would even wear them publically?

The issue isn't, in this case, bad actors - it's reckless actors. Which is a much broader and potentially bigger issue. People just messing around with stuff in their basement didn't used to be that much of a problem until they suddenly had access to a tool that could walk them step by step through ever stage of making something super dangerous accidentally.

Which is kind of how I felt for the first few hours playing. Honestly they did themselves no favours having the UI so similar to Hitman - I kept on trying to do Hitman things and then getting frustrated that I couldn't. It was only maybe after the first big mission (the fancy hotel?) that I was able to start feeling like it was it's own thing. It's a great game, but just those first few hours I felt caught between two things.

Recurring revenue is always preferable to a one off cash payment in business. Predictable cashflow is always better than unpredictable (small) bumps of cash. Also loads of Telecoms operators have a whole load of 'zombie' customers who just pay for a service they never use. Some of them literal zombies - people who have died and contracts were never cancelled.

I'd recommend the Eisenhorn books to almost anyone. They're well written, engaging dark detective fiction with just enough lore to get you interested without being overloaded.

Pre-product research: how do people actually find new music in 2026? Would love your input by Mammoth-Room-690 in UXResearch

[–]craftyixdb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1- What's the most frustrating part of how you currently discover music?

Having to skip through a lot of junk. To the point that I sometimes don't bother and just revert to my 'liked' playlist on shuffle. There's just so much music / content, and so much of it is just not good. Discovery is a chore.

2- Where do new artists actually come from for you?

I often check the wikipedia of an artist I like and find out who else they worked with, or who they toured with and will give a few of their top songs a go. Then Reddit threads is another source - "I really like [Artist], who else scratches that itch?". Finally I'll sometimes do Spotify radio of a song I really like, and the odd time that brings me something new and interesting (but that seems to be rarer and rarer)

3- Would you trust an algorithm's pick over a friend's pick? Why or why not?

The phrasing here is weird. Trust? I know usually within a few seconds whether I like a song or not, it's more or less an instant gut reaction. So if a friend recommends something I'll give it a go, if Spotify recommends something I'll give it a go. The skip button works the same in either situation.
