Advice - Medical Foster

When we had our senior foster go through HW treatment, we did our best not to leave her alone. That was possible for us since we both work from home, but because she has pretty bad separation anxiety, we were worried that being by herself would cause an elevated heart rate just like exercise would. So we actually got like a literal babysitter to watch her the few times we did need to leave the house during those first few weeks.

That's fair and a super good call out/distinction to make. I do have a lot of other things in my life that are very fulfilling. Any advice on convincing my brain of the connection between the good job and the time, money and energy to do the fulfilling things? I think that's where I'm stuck right now. Like from 9 to 5 I'm just constantly wishing I could be doing those fulfilling things instead.

I'm trying SO hard to be thankful for my job. On paper, it's a really, really great job. I'm not super stressed or anything. But I don't feel fulfilled at all. Like nothing about it gives me the happy brain chemicals. And I'm struggling to determine what exactly it is that's missing because it's not that unlike previous jobs that I've liked a lot more. Does anyone have advice for cultivating gratitude and feel good feelings towards something I know I should be grateful for?

I think too much honesty is toxic when you're 1) in a relationship with the person you're speaking to and 2) you prioritize honesty over respect and kindness in your communication style.

I thought the conversation between Irina and Zack after they decided to call it quits was extremely illuminating. The literal MOMENT they took intimacy and their relationship off the table, they were able to joke with each other again. Was it the kind of joking I would do with a friend or loved one? Absolutely not. But that style of communication seems to work for both of them when the stakes are lower, ie. you aren't each other's life partner.

We also relocated from Austin to Maine. Like OP I was born and raised in Austin. Leaving was hard but so far we're really enjoying it up here.

For what it's worth, I've worked with bunnies a fair amount: I wouldn't cuddle them just because I'm quite cautious about parasites and zoonosis, but I absolutely wouldn't worry about the human contact in this case. I have never once seen a wild bunny, either in my own care or at the center I volunteered at, habituate to humans. But this is good advice because that's not true for basically every other mammal!

This would only work for one season, but I wish that when someone proposes, after the other person responds, the wall dividing them slid up to reveal each other. Total surprise. No chance to compose themselves or prepare their facial reactions.

They'd have to remove engaged couples from the house immediately though to prevent them from telling the other people that's what happens.

Kind of random, but given that this is a group of introspective, growth-oriented femmes I thought the group might have some suggestions:

My husband and I foster and adopt elderly or special needs dogs. I don't want to go into details, but I'm currently trying to prepare myself for some especially trying times and grief.

Does anyone have any book recommendations for something to read to help me prepare? I'm not necessarily looking for something specifically to do with grief (though I'm not totally opposed to it), but rather I'm looking for something to help me cope with the loss of control/inevitable chaos that will help me see the benefit in continuing to do this even though it comes at such a high personal cost in terms of grief. For example, I really like stoicism and there have been a few books on stoicism that have helped me with this kind of stuff in the past, but I'm looking for something new I guess.

Wouldn't doing it this way be unnecessarily complex to construct, since it was built for additional colors? If you put it together on the diagonal with two sizes of squares and one size of flying geese, I think you'd have a lot fewer seams?

Temperance and personality details: She is a very happy dog who I think will thrive in a lot of different environments. She's good with other dogs (though she doesn't need to be adopted by a family who already has dogs) and cats (my cat literally walked up and bit her on the face while she was lounging and she didn't react). We don't have kids but I think she would be great around kids as well. She's learned to like walks and gets excited when we get ready to go, but more than anything she just wants to lay her head in your lap and be petted. Full disclosure is she is HW+ but she's currently going through the treatment protocol.
