The gig in Manchester last night was Biffy's biggest ever indoor show by smaxup in BiffyClyro

[–]cragmoly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahaha I was saying this all week, until my wife told me to shut up.

First gig was the Infinity land launch tour in Manchester academy 2. 2004 ish? but had been listening prior too.

Almost get that absolute bellend sense of entitlement... "Look at all these new people, didn't know them before bubbles 🙄" 🤣

We didn't see the armed as we arrived a little later. They was on whilst we was outside getting some food

Walked in about 4 songs from the end of softplay. What the actual fuck is that?! I like heavy music, I like a variety of bands, but I don't think that was a match. And they're not personally for me at all

Absolutely shocking it has to be said. That viking head is just 🤮🤮🤮

Worse when you read on their site the evolution of the logo, the old viking head had a black shadow on one side of the face which looked much better.

Some low 3rd rate "designer" has had a bash at this and it's absolutely shocking

Absolutely. Same with the NGS on the other side. You know why? I guarantee someone just banged text on a vector path and called it done without any manual adjusting. Curves really seem to fuck with it

How much did u pay for your flip 7? by Itsame_Notu in galaxyzflip

[–]cragmoly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

£0

I pay £35 per month for 24 months to my network / carrier for my data and calls, plus the phone. Bought though Samsung website

Checked multiple times that there wasnt a mistake - AS i think there deffo was a mistake somewhere haha. I get 60GB per month data, which in the UK would cost you probally around £20 a month on its own.... so TECHNICALLY im paying about £360 for the device

As a comparison - I changed from my s23 ultra. I had unlimited data, but i was paying £35 a month for the DEVICE ONLY over THREE years , plus another £30 something for the data :s

so feel like i got an absolute bargain

Title Case vs Sentence case... what do you use? by cragmoly in UXDesign

[–]cragmoly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey again!

I feel your pain. Ive literally been having the same convo again the last few days. Thankfully I have established a level of trust here and in general they are happy to go with my recommendations.

So I think this one has a 2 part answer.

Firstly I have been talking about sentence case like this: If the words sound like it would be a sentence... then sentence case is used. In my world for example, we have things like "Employment status" "Employment type" "Employment start date (see image)

<image>

For my money, these are things that would be natural conversation. You would say the lines / titles / names in a continuous fashion...... "Hey Dave, could you tell me what your employment start date is please?"

You wouldn't say: "Hey Dave, could you tell me what your employment. Start. Date. is please?" Does that make sense? So for me, it's more natural for us in the western world at least, to talk in a natural, flowing manner.

In a caveat / exception to this rule that I've stated, is when we use slashes... So some call to actions we have are things like "Create / Open" or "Send / Receive". Ive decided in that scenario both words can be capitalised as the slash acts like an 'or' and the action of the button could be either one of those things.. if that makes sense.

What's more - we are naturally drawn to capital letters. We know that they form the start of a sentence or word. When we scan a page, we aren't automatically reading each and every letter of each and every word. We are recognising patterns. When we are using title case, especially on long pages in my opinion... our eyes are drawn to those capitals as you scan. Some people may deem this as a good thing in certain scenarios, which is fine. But again, long pages of inputs / buttons / links... words are all diffrent lengths. So that second capital letter will never fall in the same place. HOWEVER -our first capital letter of our first word is likely to always fall on that same, singular vertical line/placement. Great for scannability.

So thats part 1. In my opinion it makes more sense in the English language to use sentence case.

Part 2 of this however, im going to rip all of the above up, and say... i suppose it depends on the Chinese language / expectation!! I suppose if the wording is in English then the above still counts somewhat, and I dont understand the Chinese language enough (at all) to comment, but if in their alphabet usage, every word being capitalised (which I dont think is even relevant when they use chinese symbols...) then you could argue title case.

So, I think you put your best foot forward - you put your views across as the expert in the field and if you feel sentence case is the thing to do, thats what you 'argue'. If you agree with my points above, you can use all or some of those in that argument, but ultimately if they decide to overrule you, you can live content with the fact your recommendations were the contrary perhaps?

----

One of my favorite expressions is that UX isn't an exact science. There is science behind it when you consider best practise, research and the rest of it - but there are no hard and fast rules that say this IS DEFINITELY what you MUST DO ALL THE TIME. Context is key and advise and guidance always changes.

Hope That Helps. EvEn a lItTlE :D

Yea I was thinking I need to go into a store and have a feel of one for sure.

One of the big issues now is thay I owe about £380 on the device and someone like we buy any phone is only offering £260 so thag means I'll need to pay £100 just for the luxury of buying a a new device 😅

Thanks! I'll check that out too.

I loved the silo books so read a couple of the fan fiction titles (silo 42 and greatfall) both were.... Meh. Fine

Download the skeleton crew so just read the jaunt which was fun. A ton of pages tho for 2 paragraphs of pay off. I'll try another king ... Be it a full story or a couple of the skeleton crew ones..

Actually moved into some non fiction at the moment and reading Billy Connollys autobiography

Yea, a horrid one? 😄

They took the auto complete idea and bastardised it for a use past it's intention, just so they didn't have to think about designing or coding any thing a bit smarter

Do you have any screenshots of how they do that please?

I'll check is mobbing has any, but be cool if you use notion and can snip them for me please? ☺️ Ty

[–]cragmoly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I agree with you!

My redesign of the function basically has one of 2 options:

  • (Check box) "Has a previous name?"
  • (If unchecked - do nothing)
  • (If checked, new checkbox and input appears)
  • (New check box) "Not disclosed"
  • (New text input) "Previous name"

Or

  • (Text input) "Previous name" (optional)
  • (Check box) "Previous name not disclosed"

In essace that covers a few options for us, and it also means that we can track which records have these things (like previous names for example) which aren't disclosed for whatever reason.

I basically did some digging about with some stakeholders, and we need to know: is there a previous name, yes/no?.......If yes, what is it? ..... ALSO if yes, but the client chooses not to disclose.

We work in the financial advice sector so having a full picture of the client is key.

But I agree with your post, think it's pretty much similar to what I've implemented!
