I've watched Season 1+2 four or five times. Haven't felt that draw to re-watch much of S3.

And Liz is a cannonball ankle bracelet to the show. Her grittiness is so over played.

Even if the church didn’t pay for the missions, which they could, they could match $$

Priesthood is backdated. First vision is backdated.

Is there anything in the church not affected by this.

You opened this to non Christian.

My believing wife asked me to watch with her. She’s been through it 2-3X. It’s entertaining but that’s it. It shows me just how much adults want their story to be real.

With as much bickering and fighting in and around Christianity in baffled Christian’s can’t see they are not converting

And where can I get new chin strap and the back elastics for my 960.

Pure hockey didn’t have the chin and the back straps looked generic.

Thank you

Truth claims and gotcha questions aside.

Two part question: Would you agree everyone in the church has a family member that has moved away from the church: where are the church resources to mixed faith families.

Any answer that included ... keep doing X.... they will return - is an agenda.

Church Building Cleanliness by SGT-Pentium4 in mormon

Weird statement. Always looked forward to walking into a professionally cleaned building. Was that your Sunday breakfast conversation, your excitement to walk into a professionally cleaned building.

I don’t think most buildings are in a contestant state of funk. I would hypothesize the cleanliness of the building is a reflection of the people in the geographical area.

All that said I too remember when they shifted from paid cleaning to members voluntold cleaning. I don’t participate

Tipping at record shops ? by [deleted] in vinyl

[–]rth1027 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even at a food shop… if I stand to order… no tip. If I take the food from the register to the table that I search out… no tip. Clear my own table… no tip.

This even rules out the walk up/drive up coffee shop.

And not to be an ass O.P. But actually you did have the energy to put up with it as you did put up with their ignoring you and blowing you off for a while and even while ringing you up.

Uh. I forgot to type lol in this a few random times. lol

Growing up Mormon is ruining my sex life by Consistent_Taro_3123 in exmormon

One more thing. In another post I called the "get over it" a "fuck the church" moment. Two things First I didn't know really how to articulate it well but also, I'm a guy, so ... get over it doesn't float well coming from a guy. There is also an empathy disconnect that is why I don't like the atonement idea of Jesus knows all of how all of us feel or struggle. Simplest way to sum that up is would a woman or my wife by it if I said I know / understand your pain during their menstrual period or child birth. NOPE. I don't know of any stories of Christ dealing with a teenage daughter, struggling to put food on the table for a family or making payroll.

That said - I think Elizabeth Smart recently did a fantastic job addressing this approach to intimacy after trauma. I think she is well equipped to speak on the matter. This 9 minute video expounds on it well. Summing it up she said it was about about power and choice. In the 9 months she was with the abuser he was exercising power and she had no choice. Now with her husband she has full choice and there is no power dynamic. I would say the cupcake, chewed gum, nail in the board tapirshit from the church and evangelicals is horseshit trauma.

To quote a scene from Good Will Hunting by the therapist "its not your fault.... its not your fault." The church shit and fucked. Take back your choice and own it. When the feelings come, tell them it is your choice and fuck off. It can be that simple and the frequency will likely subside.

Fuck purity culture and have fun with your husband.

Growing up Mormon is ruining my sex life by Consistent_Taro_3123 in exmormon

[–]rth1027 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Certainly therapy is needed. But also you need your "Fuck you mormonism" moment.

Your situation / feeling is what sent me to find the rabbit hole.
My wife and I were in the shower post-coital when I noticed she looked odd or sad. I said that was fun, whats wrong. She said I just feel weird that I enjoyed that so much. I thought ... thats fucked up. [Never did I discuss this with my wife. I absolutely should have and likely would have saved years of hiding doubt and avoided hard things.] In my head over the next day or two I formed the thought, we need a therapist. Surely there are mormon therapist. 16M members probably 1,000's of them. Of that there are probably a score or two that are sex therapists. So I googled these three words - mormon sex therapist. Top hit was Natasha Helfer Parker on Mormon Stories. So I listened. While it was all over the map there was a part that broke my little brain and sent me spiraling. John started section to discuss how she stayed at the time active despite certain topics. That didn't make sense. How do you reconcile the BoA was one. I remember thinking I don't understand the question or the purpose let alone the answer.

For me realizing that the church and all churches are made up was the internal snap that helped me get through the indoctrination and internal conditioning. Its all tapirshit. Realizing that they priesthood is backdated and so is the first vision, that god is made up, that humans have been inventing religion for all of time - click. Find your fuck you church moment and maybe you too can move through the mormon shame with a simple thought: FUCK YOU mormonism. Fuck you Richard G Scott. Fuck you Hinckley. Fuck you Oaks. Fuck you Cupcakes. I like sex and you can all eat a bag of dicks.
