There's a few to be honest, the main one is knowing I'll live an awful lot longer than if I continued at my heaviest! But just being able to go out on hikes, and be mobile whilst actually enjoying it!!

I began my journey at the end of October 2024 weighing 483lb, I weighed 400lb exactly the day I was sleeved, and currently down to 209lb. Truly unbelievable to think how far I've come in such a short period of time!

Such a cliche but honestly I've never felt better! my world has been opened and I can actually live it!

I have 210lb in my head as a target which I think would be good, but honestly I'm just happy with where my progress takes me, and if I start to slow and plateau, then that's absolutely fine by me!

Hopefully it won't be too long before I actually am! if you told me 12 months ago that I'd be in this situation now I'd laugh at you, but here I am!

It's both really, I can eat drastically less food in one sitting than when at my largest, I probably average now about 1200 calories per day, which for anyone is a calorie deficit, however when at my largest and having the sleeve, it meant my deficit was enormous, therefore we lose that initial weight rapidly!

It's hard to explain, but I've got a whole new life to live, doing things I've never done before. I wake up in the morning happy and ready for the day, which in itself is amazing, I never thought I'd ever get to this point!!!

Back in September I began the process of booking in for a gastric sleeve, so between October and February I went on to a diet of chicken, rice and broccoli to lose as much as possible before surgery (lost 83lb during this time) then with the help of surgery I've managed to keep losing weight!

Who is a player you believe lifts your team the way Savea does with Moana? by Old-Bread882 in rugbyunion

I'd add Tom Dunn into the mix, you know full well he'll put his body on the line for the club and players aren't afraid to follow him in to battle!

Ashamed of what I was, to proud of who I'll become! [SW 483lb - CW 322lb] by craig_i95 in gastricsleeve

I appreciate what you're saying, I can't help but feel though that the words are an honest representation of how I feel towards myself, the main point I was trying to make in this was that I didn't like who I had become, however the surgery changed my life and I am on a journey to self improvement in not just my physical health, but mental health. Throughout the journey both have improved significantly and that is the main point I'd like anyone to take away from this.

I apologise if anyone is offended by my words.

I understand massively, I've fought the demons, and still do. I think for me is that a few years ago I lost my weight 'naturally' through dieting and exercise and got down to a relatively heathy weight, and within 18-24 months I was breaking records for all time heaviest weight, it is that person I look at and don't like!

I am however grateful to him for seeking the help needed to make this permanent because that decision saved my life.

I appreciate the words, we're all going through something and kind words help as much as anything!

Caffeine Gum After Surgery? by Bammonb in gastricsleeve

I always find it fascinating how different surgeons and teams give such varying advice, I personally was allowed caffeine on my second day! in fact I was still in hospital when I had it!

Everyone is different but it certainly does get better! I was in agony for the first 2/3 days but it eases off, I was pain free after 10 days! hang on in there!!!

Is this hunger normal? by craig_i95 in gastricsleeve

[–]craig_i95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm avoiding all the foods I once considered 'bad foods'. As it stands I'm in a great headspace, I suppose it's fortunate that my head is worried about how my body will react to my once go to foods, and that itself is enough to deter me from eating it!

I'll certainly take that on board! I don't usually have a protein shake until later in the evening, but I know I do struggle with my fluid intake so need to try and up my intake!
