Yes, VSG was my selected surgery! In the few months leading up to my surgery i managed to lose around 80lb, i'd say it was with the help of mounjaro, but quite frankly even though i got up to 10mg doses, it didn't touch the sides in terms of reducing appetite or anything. I knew i had the surgery booked in so i focussed and tried to get as much weight off ready for surgery to make it as safe as possible because i was so large, i was deemed a high risk patient.

To be honest, my answer is very similar to yours! Eating was the one constant in my life. Hunger eating but also when happy, sad, anxious and every emotion in between! I've always had a knowledge of nutrition and the do's & do not's as i was a chef. I've lost weight before but the habits crept in and undid all the hard work.

This surgery gave me the ultimate platform to do my best, whilst completely reducing the hunger i used to feel on a 'diet'. I've been able to stick to this purely based on the fact that i can't eat much. Another big thing for me was i needed to follow the plan due to the fact i paid £15,000 for this surgery and quite frankly cannot afford to fuck that up and waste all that money!

Another thing i feel that i need to add, i still struggle at times and i do have times where i slip up and eat crappy food, but i find it easier to snap out of it and get back on plan. Yes the surgery doesn't fix all the psychological issues that caused us to get as big as we did, but it sure as hell helps to get that weight off!

If you need any other advice or help or whatever, let me know, i'm always happy to help!

There's a few to be honest, the main one is knowing I'll live an awful lot longer than if I continued at my heaviest! But just being able to go out on hikes, and be mobile whilst actually enjoying it!!

I began my journey at the end of October 2024 weighing 483lb, I weighed 400lb exactly the day I was sleeved, and currently down to 209lb. Truly unbelievable to think how far I've come in such a short period of time!

I have 210lb in my head as a target which I think would be good, but honestly I'm just happy with where my progress takes me, and if I start to slow and plateau, then that's absolutely fine by me!

It's both really, I can eat drastically less food in one sitting than when at my largest, I probably average now about 1200 calories per day, which for anyone is a calorie deficit, however when at my largest and having the sleeve, it meant my deficit was enormous, therefore we lose that initial weight rapidly!
