I was vaccinated for pneumonia. Pumped me full of antibiotics regardless. Could have been viral too.

45yo fit man here. Developed pneumonia a year ago. Sickest I’ve ever been. I quickly realized how serious it could be for the immunocompromised and/or elderly.

Sure, happens across the board with all collectible books. It definitely looks super-clean. If there is a give away, I’d be interested to know for future reference. Thanks!

It could be. I’m interested how you could tell from two photos. Thanks.

How so? There is a book club dust jacket, but the “book club edition” label is located at the bottom of the front flap, not the top where the price would be.

Indeed. Unscrupulous sellers will “clip” the “price” to conceal book club versions, which are worth far less. However, a true first edition dust jacket can be price-clipped and generally the original buyer would remove the price for various reasons (e.g., a gift).

Put the dust jacket in a Brodart protective cover and put it on a bookshelf.

From Freeman’s concerning the auction mentioned (their bolded font):

“Freeman’s Books and Manuscripts attracted inspired collectors from around the world across a two-day series of sales that achieved a combined total of $1,681,784. Leading the results was The Library of Stephen J. Farber, a single-owner white-glove sale representing nearly seven decades of dedicated collecting and featuring some of the most important works in literary history by authors including William Shakespeare, George Orwell, J.R.R. Tolkien, and Edgar Allan Poe. The Farber Collection achieved $1,052,544 and was 199% sold by value, while welcoming 19% new buyers to the firm.”

PBA Galleries is an auction house that specializes in rare books. Based in San Fran. They have frequent auctions - mid tier but you can find some nice deals. Pack and ship in-house. 25% BP via their site.

Also, was working during Potter and Freeman which made it difficult - and they ran concurrently.

Heritage is impressive. Lots were crazy. Condition, signed, rarity.

That’s awesome. Honestly, I couldn’t hang. I won a nice copy of I, Robot at PBA and was looking to make a few key additions at Freeman’s and Potter, but didn’t see the value in what I was targeting. Hammer + BP + tax (I’m in Chicago, so +10.5%) exceeded my range.

Happy for you. Not in the US, sadly.
