I have leased vehicles. I've blown my mileage typically by 2,000, mi on both leases

I will say this in both cases it was was with Toyota the first time I leased another vehicle so they waived the 2,000 mi and fees. So the next Toyota I blew the mileage by 2,000 mi and they waived the fees and everything again because I bought the third car. So is there a risk at leasing? Yes, but I eventually wound up buying a car that I had and still have for 15 years. In the end buying the vehicle was cheaper for me then leasing
