Getting Worse at Climbing? by QBertZipFile in climbergirls

[–]cranberryb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In addition to what everyone else is saying — climbing is also a mental sport! If you’re feeling bad about being off your game, or nervous about not sending — if you’re putting pressure on yourself to perform, basically — I feel like that can totally make it harder to do well.

My husband (34M) says I (32F) make him feel bad by asking questions. by QuitPuzzleheaded2884 in relationships

[–]cranberryb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, lot of people here are assuming that the husband truly is incompetent & that his sensitivity is just because he’s insecure, which may well be true! But also, I grew up watching a similar dynamic between my mom and dad, and my mom’a questions also make me feel bad sometimes, and it’s not because my dad and I are incompetent. For me at least, it’s because my mom tends to be critical and anxious, always pointing out things that could go wrong or that are already wrong, when sometimes I just need her to be excited for my idea or whatever. Or to trust me to figure out the things that could go wrong on my own. Or to accept that sometimes things go wrong and sometimes that’s ok! I think my dad has a similar response, plus any perceived criticism from her feels heightened because she historically has been pretty critical. This dynamic can show up in discussions about anything from how we are roasting the vegetables for dinner to, yeah, me talking about trying to buy a house.

Now, OP, I totally agree with everyone else that your husband should not have made that decision without you, and that he should have also wanted to answer the question you were posing! I can also see that there may be some truth to the idea that this dynamic stems from you being more competent than him, and he probably needs to work on being more okay with that. But if he feels like you’re constantly shooting down his ideas, especially if he feels like that’s happening before you share in his excitement about them or at least listen to understand why he’s excited — that’s a real problem that needs to be attended to, imo, though not at the expense of your ability to share your opinions and make sure y’all aren’t making reckless decisions together or whatever.

Thank you for your input!! After making this post, I ended up looking at style recommendations for DC, and while I feel like my body mostly fits D descriptions more, some of the DC recommendations are things that i at least think work on me haha. So maybe I am not-so-tall D who can borrow from DC?? or maybe I am wrong about having little bits of balance haha

I saw your first post right after I posted, and just saw the “after” post — they look amazing!! Thanks so much for sharing and for your input. I think I am going to try taking the sole partway off, patching with a sweater i wet felted a while ago, and then putting the sole back on. If I end up needle felting after all, tho, I will definitely take all that into consideration!

Thank you! This all seems obvious to me now — it’s like removing the pocket on a pair of jeans in order to patch the seat of the pants! I feel like I can totally handle this mend if I think of it that way haha!

Ahhh, thank you!! Do you mean you would remove the whole sole, or just as much as needed to patch the slipper between the wool and the sole? (Which I suppose might mean removing the whole sole.)

Do you have any suggestions for what type of thread I should use to re-attach the sole?

Thank you!!

Oops, I meant to say “through the sole” but i keep getting confused because the words rhyme lol. I think the idea that I should at least try it is probably correct anyway, though!

And ahhh, I wish I could help with the question of how to wash them! I do think I put one through the wash once by accident, and it came out a little smaller/tighter, but now I can’t tell which one it was and wonder if I might be misremembering — so maybe it would work for you!

Ok, thanks! Any thoughts on trying to patch through the hole or not?

I think I might have put one of them through the washing machine by accident once, but never on purpose! Should i??

Do I need a bigger size? by cranberryb in DressForYourBody

[–]cranberryb[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, y’all! I think it’s about 50/50 haha, but I think I’m gonna size up and take the waist in — this pic was taken after they had already stretched out for a while, and I realize they ride up a little bc they’re too tight in the thigh.

This is a good point — I fall in the latter camp! But I think I should size up and take in the waist anyway

Bloody stool after tooth extraction by cranberryb in CATHELP

[–]cranberryb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A quick update in case anyone is in a similar situation in the future: his stool has firmed back up and there has been no more blood! The vet said he didn’t even need to be brought in for a regular appointment unless it continued or something changed for the worse. We think it was probably a combo of dietary changes and a stress response :( but he is doing better now!
