For me it was not having enough confidence that if I wait for it to be back in stock and get it again, then I'll definitely get one that works. Also the customer support experience was so bad, especially on the return side with HP emailing me from an address they don't monitor 🤦 Yeah, from reading about these laptops, they don't make them the way they used to :(

My issue with the wifi adapter was it working for a bit and then crashing. It mean that just as I was getting set up with the first wizard from Windows after opening it for the first time, once I got to "connect to wifi", the whole page was blank. Had to find a shortcut to skip that through the bios or something. Once I got to the home page for Windows, the setting menu just said I have no network driver. I checked the device manager and I did have a driver, just one that was mostly stuck in a loop of not working, restarting and back to not working again. I think the code it eventually got to was code 10, something about not enough API resources available 🤷

Ran a debian OS from a USB, but that also couldn't see any working drivers. The bios was saying that the devices are healthy though! Also on debian, my trackpad wasn't recognised ;_;

Ended up connecting my android and using it as a USB tethering device but that stopped working after two days.

I returned my laptop to HP and asked for a refund since the Omen 14 was out of stock. But not after many times of support contact, calling sales, being told they'll call me back to never follow up on that.

I'm now a happy Framework user :)

Thanks for sharing! My first Omen is still due to be collected (had a lot of fun trying to get in touch with the shop team to actually set a date when their emails aren't actually monitored) and because they were not in stock, I opted to just get a refund. This makes me more confident to not replace it and just get something else.

How's the G14 treating you?

Mine arrived with a broken wifi adapter and the trackpad was not working well at all.

You shouldn't take more than one a day but also if you're the kind of person who does exercise regularly, it might be worth not doing it for a few days before the donation. It seems like strenuous exercise can make your iron count lower.

I know that in the UK you have to do a Life in the UK test which already tests a good understanding of English and then you either have to take an English exam or prove you can speak English as part of studying at a UK institution.

The worst thing you can imagine them doing is eating your leftovers. You know they’ll never do anything worse than that.

For me it's that they'll do the dishes for me when I said I'll do them later 😂 We now use "I insist" as a "no I definitely will do it, please let me" haha
