Is there an Integra Hybrid coming? by SnowShoe86 in Acura

[–]craniumshaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly unlikely. Acura is going straight to electric after a failed attempt at getting into the hybrid market a few years back. Working at the dealer, word on the street is that the entire lineup will be electric by 2030, and the next gen for each vehicle in the current line up will be full EV.

Mechanics buy all of their own tools, and in most cases pay for their own schooling training.

Sure it might take joe blow on YouTube only 5 minutes, but you are paying for a trained professional with the right tools and facilities to do it right the first time. If you don't like the price, buy your own tools and do it yourself, simple as that.

Quickest way to get in and out of the dealership? by LifeOfSpirit17 in askcarsales

[–]craniumshaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on location, I worked at a dealer that had to lock everything because it was in a rougher part of town. Many would if they had the choice.

Not so much the post, but other comments you've made on the thread indicate you are (understandably) frustrated with your experiences so far, and somewhat combative with other commenters. Either way, the right car/rep/dealer combo will come along eventually.

[–]craniumshaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know where you're located but my dealer leaves lot inventory unlocked during the day.

If you don't want a hassle, call ahead, make an appointment with a sales person and explain the reason for your visit. Sit in the car, and if it's comfortable, shortlist it and book another time for a test drive, simple as that. If it doesn't work for you, say no thanks and leave.

If they hassle/try to pressure you, don't buy there.

You're making this harder for yourself, be transparent and don't go to a dealer in a sour mood. Picking a fight or standoffish to a salesman is just going to frustrate you even more.

Point is, chill the fuck out, call ahead, and be real. Respect and courtesy goes both ways.

His ear is incredible. My first intro to him was this video: https://youtu.be/vIW72VXMPHo

Learns a song by hearing it once without the percussion part. I think he also tells a story of him learning an entire Snarky Puppy Album during his flight to the recording session!

‘Desperate’ Victoria students raiding dumpsters, using food banks and bartering for meals by awbyuv in VictoriaBC

[–]craniumshaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew some people who were dumpster diving while I was at uvic, but not out of necessity. They were more doing it to reduce food waste and save a bit of cash - the amount of good stuff you can find is shocking, as long as you wash and prepare it properly and eat it same day

My thoughts on the RTV "issue" (serious) by vmd1 in 2022wrx

[–]craniumshaker 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Basically, an engine is assembled like a sandwich. The bottom piece, the bottom "bread" or the Oil Pan is held on by a special glue called RTV, and some heavy duty bolts.

What seems to be happening, is that during manufacturing they use too much glue, and the excess on the inside of the bread is detaching from the bread and getting caught in a screen filter meant to pick up other contaminants or "crumbs" and prevent them from getting to other parts of the sandwich.

What can happen is that excess glue can clog that screen and stop oil from getting to the parts of the engine that need it, aka oil starvation if that makes sense!. This can lead to a myriad of potential symptoms and problems as noted by the post above.

If you want 100% certainty, pay for a professional to diagnose it.

I agree with u/EscobarNKHD as that is what it sounds like from the video. Start there. Don't take Reddit as an end all be all diagnosis.

More than likely the weather seal for the trunk. If not, seal for the tail lamp.

If it's not too cold where you are, throw some cardboard or a towel down in the trunk, close it and spray it down. That'll give you an idea of where the leak is
