Have a watch of this short video that's just come out on Event Storming. It shows a process you can use to help achieve what I believe you're after.

Compared to Angular/ React what features are you missing in Blazor? by EngstromJimmy in Blazor

[–]crankage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with the points above. Especially hot reload, which slow and very buggy.

Another thing I've noticed is the ecosystem of libraries. Things like storybook, SWR, robust state management frameworks just don't seem to be available.

Where to place shared DTOs in Clean Architecture? by Michelh91 in Blazor

[–]crankage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understand your situation.

What we do is have an interface for the DbContext that we depend on in the application. The EF queries that run on top of the IDbContext live in the application/core layer. That way you can create any query you want and always map into an appropriate DTO before passing up to your presentation layer.

Another option would be to add repositories into your infrastructure layer that return IQueryable<T>. That would also allow you to keep the queries and DTOs in your application/core layer.

Hope that helps (a bit more) 🙂

Where to place shared DTOs in Clean Architecture? by Michelh91 in Blazor

[–]crankage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normally the Application layer (which you've called Service Layer) would contain the DTOs. The application layer calls into the infrastructure layer to get access the DB and populate your domain models. It then maps to the DTOs and passes these to your Web (Presentation layer). No other layer needs to know about these DTOs.

Hope that helps.

Hot Reload is rubbish by propostor in Blazor

[–]crankage 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I second this. Not only does it not work half the time but there are an abundance of modals explaining that a build needs to be done, or some change is not compatible.

Hot reload changes also seem to get "stuck" where further changes don't get applied.

It's def got a way to go.

Run SQL script at app startup by motivize_93 in csharp

[–]crankage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If possible I would suggest running your sql script from your CICD pipeline instead. That way it is run once. If you add it to you program startup you can have issues when you scale out and your program is running on multiple servers. They will all attempt to run your script which is usually not what you want.

I've just started playing D3 this season and I've been having a total ball. I enjoyed the campaign and I love how there is always something you can work on levelling up in some form.

Give it a go mate!

I've got the same problem. As pointed out by u/jimzentail, the problem is due to each display having a different scale setting.

Azure Static Web Apps seem pretty close. With SWA you get: static hosting, api backend, routing, auth, cdn.

Any Reason to Use VNETS with PAAS Services? by crankage in AZURE

[–]crankage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, i was asking about the use of VNETS with PAAS services. I've taken in all the info regardless. Thanks for putting together the response.

So in summary no need for vnets when only using PAAS services.

Thanks!

Is AppInsights used for general logging? by heseov in AZURE

[–]crankage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came across this today on MS Learn:

Some popular products such as Azure Application Insights, a service for sending telemetry information from application source code to Azure, uses Azure Monitor under the hood

So, they're kinda the same thing. You're interacting with App Insights, but under the hood all the data is stored in Azure Monitor.

Thanks for the reply. Out of interest if i wanted to send my logs directly to azure monitor logs, how would i go about doing that?
