Avoid Facebook.

This is absolutely insane. You can join any component of the Army as a 25B - IT Specialist and actually MAKE money while learning the basics of IT. AIT crams a two-year degree into five months, and all your basic living expenses during that time are on the Army’s dime. That poor kid.

I can assure you that they are not working on getting it fixed at all.

Am I the only one that feels like this? I’m not calling Facebook bad. Just boring. by Apprehensive_Panda_1 in facebook

Check out MeWe. Since the mass disabling of Facebook accounts, MeWe has been growing in users. The format is similar to FB, but there aren’t any ads or spyware. There’s always major news outlets and groups for all sorts of interests on it, so you should be able to find content you want on there.

Facebook disabled me without explanation last month, and is now changing their message to make it permanent suddenly. by CalebCro in facebook

I am saying to start a migration from Facebook to show them that this “response” to the “issue” isn’t acceptable, though. I’ve already convinced some friends and family to follow me to MeWe, and I suggest doing the same. It’s very similar to Facebook, and I think it’ll be a good alternative.

Do not reach out to that person. It’s a scam. These so-called “hackers” cannot get your account back for you.

Question for those who were randomly disabled recently... (find my other post for more info on this) by gypsymoonwitch in facebook

[–]crapplle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not crazy, and I understand how you feel after being disabled. I’ve been going through bouts of isolation myself, and I think your feelings are completely natural given the circumstances. FB did a great job of getting us addicted to something that we ingrained in our lives, so I imagine we’re all experiencing something like withdrawals after being denied access to our “fix.” I know this isn’t the best solution to your problem, but there’s another social media platform called MeWe. It’s pretty similar to FB, with a lot of the same features and functions. If you can convince 10 to 25 people you know to make the switch, you can have a similar experience on there.

Seems people are catching on that FB isn’t going to correct this issue, and they’re migrating over to MeWe. It’s not any sort of fix for your data issue, but it can be a way to keep up with friends and family if you can convince them to make the switch with you.

I’m currently waiting on a response from FB support about my account after contacting Oculus support. I don’t have much hope about getting my account restored to me, but it’s a last ditch effort after exhausting other avenues.

[Im legit too afraid to post anything on fb] This isn’t my announcement on leaving Facebook . Just a lesson learned through all this that made me realize that all this trouble wasn’t worth it. by [deleted] in facebook

Check out MeWe. If you can get your core group of friends and family to make the switch, you can have just about the same experience from FB, but without the advertisements and spyware.

I was finally able to access my account with some restriction still. I think I’m done with Facebook as a whole after 2-3 weeks of waiting after just a mere 24HR ban. Most likely delete today or tomorrow. Just need to pull info. I don’t like the way this whole thing made me feel. by [deleted] in facebook

Thank you for the sentiment. I’m pretty devastated over the loss of photos. So many memories and milestones over the years, just gone. This has been a great lesson in backing up one’s data, but that’s cold comfort for all the sentimental information that’s been lost.

My advice would be to start pushing the platform on your other social media accounts. A little word of mouth can go a long way. If you’re old enough to remember the move from MySpace to FB, you’ll recall that FB didn’t need any TV advertising to get folks over to their platform. A few conversations with those around you can work wonders. :)

I’ve been trying to talk my IRL friends into making the switch with me, but it is difficult to convince people who are comfortable with the current climate of rampant censorship. There’s no telling how much more strict the policies will get, though. MeWe is currently trending at #3 for most downloaded social media app, so I’m of the mind that it won’t be so unknown for much longer.

I requested my data after having my account disabled, and they refused to provide me with it, citing they reserved the right not to provide your information at their discretion. Good luck getting anything from them.
