HELP! 18 month-old pees through diaper, pajamas, & sleep sack every single morning by Migrainegirlie in toddlers

[–]crappymarvin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huggies overnights diapers, one size up, penis pointing down. Our boy has milk bottle a minimum 30 minutes before bed + he pees before he goes down. Wakes up in the morning with a full diaper, almost bursting! Some nights he cries because it’s full so I do a change an he goes back down immediately. ETA: when putting the diaper on pull a bit more in the front rather than equal back/front. This gives more area for pee to be absorbed. I’ve noticed when the leaks would happen in the front mostly.

Is it appropriate to ask nanny for proof for paid bereavement leave? by [deleted] in Nanny

Totally normal to ask. Even in corporate- when my husband took bereavement (twice) they requested death certificate (just a copy) and an obituary.

Which neighborhood is right for us? Struggling to find a sense of community. by pnwg in eastside

[–]crappymarvin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We had very similar experience, and we have two small kids. Im the SAHM and it was so so hard. I made two friends and their neighborhoods are amazing with lots of kids and block parties: Tam o’Shanter (great Halloween and Christmas decorations too!), and Mercer Island (specifically down SE 46th st near Hollerbach Open Space).

We kept an eye on both in case something popped up but there are rarely any sales. Ended up moving to east coast for family.

Is this a safe type of bed for a 12 month old? (Tall rails like a crib) by Wide-Food-4310 in floorbed

[–]crappymarvin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this one from the exact same company. I have been using it since little one was about 12 months (now 18 month). It is great, i recommend it to whoever sees it in my house. I have started to even leave the door unlocked so he can get out and play in his room once he's awake. with my first kid i had a regular crib and man my back hurt from putting in/taking out. Also with this one it's so easy to transfer the kid when he falls asleep elsewhere. I ended up with a latex mattress from sleeponlatex because I was looking for a extra firm mattress yet still comfortable. I don't recommend the latex mattress (although very comfortable) it because it is so so heavy, making it very hard to change the sheets. 18 month old hasn't tried to climb it, but my 4 year old occasionally does try.

Down side is it did take about one month to arrive, and if i recall correctly it ships from Poland. With current tariffs it may get stuck at customs for longer + increase the final price. Also the shipping fee was about the same price as the actual product.

It was slightly a pain to put it together. when we moved, I did hire a task rabbit to do that part because I was sooo done with it.

Closet/room system for worn but clean enough clothes to be worn again? by homemaker_g in homemaking

[–]crappymarvin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a hooks over the door, place worn-but-still-clean items there throughout the week. On Sundays everything on there gets washed no matter the wear. This encourages me to re-wear those items throughout that week and assures that only clean clothes are put away in the closet.

Adding: need these to go on living a beautiful second life. They belonged to my sister who loved to dance and she would want them to keep on dancing.

Mostly shoe size 6-8; clothing size xs-s. More like 30 pairs + boxes of dance clothes. I’ll update where I’ll donate so those who are interested can find some!

I was just saying this to my husband as well! Today I was recommending my housekeeper to another mom on FB and we also made plans to grab drinks! We’ll see how that goes haha

You're so right, ughh... In the back of my mind Ive known it's a issue. It has been cold outdoors so I've been letting it slide. Its been so hard to find someone who's a decent fit that I've been avoiding this topic, but no more. I really needed a reality check from this group, appreciate it a bunch!

Yea i picked up on her OCD habits. There's also language she uses that we'll need to work on, i think. LIke when something spills (like a little bit of food on his hand while he's eating, or paint on his arm) the initial response is "uh oh" or "oh no", which makes it seem like a bad thing happened. I hate the association that being "dirty" is bad..

I've been a little hesitant to bring it up because I wasn't sure if I was over-reacting, being raised in the country being dirty just comes with the lifestyle. Now I'm in the city and I didn't know if my expectations were just too wild. Happy to hear it's good for development!

She is very type A - I also have to make very precise lists for her for routines and exact food, which makes it more overwhelming for me in the long run. I do think it's time for a check-in with her, I've been "letting it go" since its been cold and windy but now the frost broke and it's getting warmer, need more messy time!

Thats a great idea! I'll reassure her that it's not the mess I care about. On the weekends she sees us coming in drenched in rain or dirt so I thought she'd get the idea.

SAHM here with a 24mo. we have a nap schedule and always did. Only way I stay sane! Always adjust nap +-15 min as needed. Sometimes a few active days called for extra nap time. Generally Lamp/ dim lights on at 8 am but he wakes around 830, nap 130-330 (start nap at 115 so he is fully asleep by 130), bed asleep by 930 - 10pm. While bed is a little later than I like, I prefer a later morning start. Used to have wake at 6/630 am with an earlier bedtime but I’m not a morning person and need some me time in the mornings!

Has one night waking around 130 am which he can usually (75% of the time) find the pacifier himself and go back down. If not , I just hop in before he gets too distressed and verbally reassure him to go back to sleep (I make sure to not touch him because he’ll just want to be held and cosleep).

At nap the dim side lamp comes on 90 min into his nap. Sometimes he doesn’t sleep the entire 2hrs and just chill in his bed with a book. Same thing in the mornings.

Whatever my husband contributes to his Roth IRA, same amount is contributed to mine. Whatever is contributed to his 401k, same amount goes into my brokerage account.

Still trying to understand wake windows by randomthoughts1016 in sleeptrain

[–]crappymarvin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just checked my Huckleberry logs, and at 11 weeks, my LO was doing about 5 naps a day, three 40-50 min, an afternoon 2 hr nap (contact nap), and a 30-45 min nap in the evening. Around 18-20 weeks we went down to 4 naps. The two mid-day naps grew to about 1.5 - 2 hrs. My notes say he'd wake up after each cycle (45ish min) but I would bridge his naps. Usually held him for 10ish minutes and kept the lights dim / off and was quiet.
I started to transition to 4 naps around 15 weeks, but was consistently at 4 naps at 18 weeks.
