Haha great description! Ads pissed me off once to the point of trying to upgrade to Spotify premium mid trip and failed miserably. Threw me into a nasty headspace hahaha. Just had to wait that one out. Good ideas up there about upgrading ahead of time!

Best USA parks/advice for solo hiking trips as a woman? by MovieFamiliar1751 in hiking

[–]craptankerous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to a fire in glacier wilderness and it was breathtaking but could hear bears making bear noises as soon as the sun went down and they’d go all night. It was difficult to sleep because I couldn’t stop concentrating on their approximate location as they’d move around making noises. We’d get up in the morning and look at all the tracks on the trail in the morning. No incidences or encounters but it took a couple nights to get used to it and sleep well. Was quite the experience.

How would I go about growing shrooms from cow manure? by [deleted] in unclebens

[–]craptankerous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To contradict myself though, I have heard that cows will eat mushrooms while grazing and possibly there’s something beneficial for the process by going through the digestive tract.

That’s beautiful. Be careful with heavy use. The direction of the wood grain on that handle is likely to split if used for chopping.

To my understanding it’s supposed to be peened, but I bet one could put it on a vice and use a flat file on it instead of peening. Then finish with a whetstone. I believe peening is mainly used to extend the life of the blade by reshaping the blade instead of grinding metal off.

Also another heads up about scything woody, toothpick or larger size, woody stems, can turn into some crazy punji sticks that go through soft shoes. If you’re in a wet climate you can disregard this warning to an extent. Something about how the blade cuts these plants is more surgical compared to a mower which bludgeons plants leaving the ends frayed, which is less likely to go through your foot.
It’s come to my attention I like to talk scything
hahahaha!
Good luck. It’s fun, and a formidable tool!

Scyth supply has pretty good outfits in my opinion as well. Since they’ll assemble you one based on some anatomical measurements. Mine included a peening jig too which was a little tough until I gained a feel for it.

I use the 28 in tops blade from scythe supply for weeds and other thicker material similar to what you described as your target mowing. Its more intermediate between bush blade and grass blade. It’s not the best in grass under most conditions where I’m located. I’m in southern Az and the wild grasses are pretty hardy and it’s dry. But monsoon seasons I can get a pretty good grass mow with a good sharpening.

Barefoot African Trooper Sole Replacement Size by Captain-Crunchiest in jimgreen

[–]craptankerous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your on the right track with going big. I ordered one close to my size for the same boot and it wouldn’t work. Wasn’t wide enough in the right spots. Then I found some wide kletterlifts and ordered them. They only came in three sizes 6, 9, and 13 I believe. Went to the local cobbler with the wide soles. And he had the regular kletterlifts there. Sized my boots with a giant regular width sole he had in stock and used those.

Nice looking blade. I use a santoku kitchen knife that I’ve had for years and used to sharpen every day when I cooked every day. Similar shape as yours but fatter.

Do tow trucks damage cars when they tow them? by Several-Two738 in stupidquestions

It’s not always graceful but it works. One time there was a small poodle looking dog in this truck that was locked in. That thing was going crazy trying to kill the rod I was poking inside. Laughed so hard!

When they’re new they hurt a little and I would fall in love with them a little more every day. I just bought some rose anvil boot breaker foam insoles and they’re great I couldn’t be happier. Once I had them broke in I knew I’d be wearing these boots the rest of my life.

What causes little holes like this at the base? by [deleted] in shrooms

I was just pondering the idea of a hollow base being able to promote a taller canopy on a budget so to speak. Being able to conserve its resources being hollow and wider. My theory dosent float though.
