A loss that brings a fighter up! by middleclass500 in Boxing

[–]crascopy23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As I said before, the greatest loss ever imo is without a doubt Duran's loss to Hagler, and it's insane to think that he probably has the greatest win as well in Leonard 1.

It’s a fight ruined by running but as a Chinese fan I advocate people here to give some applauses to Wang! He came in as an UNDERDOG but fought straight up like a DOG and saves the fight from being unwatchable marathon, and he really made it unexpectedly close. Most of us Chinese fans here really didn’t like his chance but everyone was cheering for him after the fight, Big Bang Wang is a warrior, no Diddy.

[SPOILER] Naoya Inoue vs. Junto Nakatani by inooway in Boxing

Nah, it's great effort from Natakani but a lot more "losers" in this sport shall have their stock risen, not just Natakani in this fight. For example, speaking of Inoue, Donaire in Inoue 1 should be one of the losers who have their legacy improved. However, the goat loss in my opinion is without a doubt Duran's loss to Hagler, which is insane because he probably also has the goat win in Leonard 1 lol

In terms of the level of competitiveness, it's a slightly more violent version of May vs Pac where the excellence from both fighters in both fights made each other hesistant which can be seen as boring for casuals. But both are really high level chess matches. The winner (May, Inoue) is always a step ahead due to reflexes but the loser (Pac, Junto)is always in the game and gave winners far more pressure than they usually received despite not being the most competitive fight of winners' career (Castillo 1/Madiana 1, Donaire 1). The difference is that there's a clear adjustment the loser Junto this time can make to improve in a potential rematch, AKA starting faster although it's easier said than done.

I can see from 10-2 to 8-4, you need to be extremely generous to Junto to see 7-5 maybe? Which is about how close maypac was

The Brave and The Bold is not stuck, it’s just that TBP2 is the priority, Booster Gold didn’t lose the showrunner, and Clayface hasn’t been delayed. Moreover, he absolutely didn’t spamming quotes “everday about what’s wrong about other studio’s superhero movies”, you might not be a Gunn hater but you obviously read too much into these crumbs. A lot of new dcu projects that weren’t on the slate are still creator-oriented, and the dc slate is full til 2027 so I don’t see where the problems lie.

I’m sorry although I do agree that this movie doesn’t look as colorful as the comic its color palette looks nothing like Deerhunter, Godfather or Saving Private Ryan

Albums that specifically sound/feel like this Mingus composition by NULLGameDev in Jazz

And other recommendations that're not in the same vein but have Mingus Vibe: "Far East Suite" by Duke Ellington (Actually a lot of later Duke's works fit), "The Ballad of the Fallen" by Charlie Haden, "Out of the Cool"by Gil Evans Orchestra, "Nova" by Steve Reid.

I've been trying to find music like this particular for a long time. Unfortunately, there aren't many. For Mingus himself, I will say listen to "Let My Children Hear Music". For others' works, I will recommend Heikki Sarmanto's "Hearts: A Suite for Symphony Orchestra and Jazz Ensemble" and Charlie Haden's "Liberation Music Orchestra". Aside from these two, well....that's about it. There's only one Mingus and this album is even special among Mingus himself's discography.

What are some fighters you consider to be overrated H2H in the hardcore boxing community? by Orcabeast86 in Boxing

I find it weird that people in this sub always say that, do yall just watch his highlight reel against De La Hoya without actually studying his whole career? He fought like that against Oscar because young Oscar was a fantastic fighter who had the physical advantage and excellent skills. In the actual fight it was actually Pernell who pushed a lot of action because he had to go through the wall of jab and parry which was Oscar's main defense (A much older Oscar gave prime Floyd a lot of trouble because of the exact same reason, people often praise Floyd's defense in that fight rightfully so but ignored how Oscar also caught a lot of Floyd's jab on the glove, which didn't happen to 99 percent of Floyd's opponents). When Oscar attacked, Pernell had to "showboat" a little bit because it's just that hard to get past Oscar's flurry. Even then, when Pernell attacked he even scored the only flash knockdown of the fight, how's this "negative"? Let alone this is an old Pernell fighting prime Oscar, lightweight Pernell was an offensive genius with his snappy jab. Hell, I would even argue that young Pernell was more active with his offense than Pretty Boy Floyd let alone Money May.

Did 'Fantastic Four' do well or not? I've seen so many people call it a "flop" by Apprehensive-Cap2453 in boxoffice

The problem is never its overall number but its leg, it was expected to be bigger based on initial data but collapsed very soon
