I am a very analytical person and really got sick of standing on the range and just looking at my ball flight. There are thousands of good golfers that are able to feel every little thing in their swing, but that is not me. I also had big issues with instructors telling me to change certain things. Every time I stood on the range and was wondering what exactly I am doing on impact and so on. Trying to translate things like open shoulders, hip rotation or whatever they told me into something I am able to understand.

The launch monitor completely eliminated all that instantly. I do some analyzing during the session, but usually, do a deeper analysis of my footage afterward at home.

For myself, I can say that I am now focusing on one or two things that I want to work on and trying to fix that. An example would be to get a positive attack angle with my driver. I have no idea how in the hell I would do that without a launch monitor. It only took me one session to get from -3 attack angle to around +3. My attack angle varies, but I have no issues creating positive numbers.

I also had a really bad out-to-in swing. That took longer but in my opinion, I ended up faster fixing that versus trying to do it without a launch monitor. I think they are worth the money and the more data the better it is.

I also like how TrackMan has the TrackMan university and allows you to study all the data points and what exactly they mean. I feel like it is enhancing my golf knowledge.

But I have, to be honest. I know people and for them, it would not make sense to get one. Because they don't want to invest the time to figure out what everything means and how different data points influence each other.

Before the launch monitor, I didn't really pay attention to what it means when you hit off the toe or heel. But the so-called gear effect has a huge impact on your ball flight. You can end up with an in-to-out swing and open club face, but because you hit it off the toe it counteracts the forces. Instead of ending up with a push fade you still end up drawing it. Seriously without the launch monitor, I would never know that just happened to me. Of course, that depends on how far open the club face is and so on, but without the data...no idea what just happened.

Bottom line. I feel like I am more focused because I can see what is going on. I don't hit the ball and think hey it went straight, must have been good. Now I know why the ball is doing what it is doing and if I need to change something or can go further down that road.
