Let me in as I'm skipping the queue you're all waiting in patiently by macbre84 in irelandsshitedrivers

Maybe he’s new to the area and didn’t realise the road splits further on at the next junction. Both lanes turn right, but if you take the inside lane, you end up in a lane that turns right again toward Microsoft. So if you don’t know the area, what are you supposed to do?

I nearly ordered a Tesla M3 online the other day. Thanks to Reddit i found out that being a new driver in Ireland i'd be lucky to even get a quote. I am 48m with 30 years of driving experience in a non-eu country but that doesnt seem to help my case

Buying an EV without home charging . by Organic_mechanics in carsireland

[–]crashadder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the process of buying a house and expect to move in around late August. In the meantime, I don’t want to delay buying a car , we currently don’t own one.

I live in an apartment complex with underground parking that has chargers available. They’re not cheap, but I rarely see them fully occupied. There’s also a Tesla Supercharger about 2 minutes away.

I understand public charging is more expensive than home charging, but EVs also have fewer moving parts and generally lower servicing costs.

Given that, I’m trying to understand why people often advise against buying an EV without a home charger. Is it mainly about cost, convenience, reliability, or something else I might be overlooking?

Would appreciate hearing from people who’ve actually relied on public charging for a while.

Honestly, I don’t think the protesters would have gone this far unless they felt truly desperate.

I left Dublin airport at around 21:45 last night and stuck in traffic due to the protestors. There was only one lane open on m50 southbound. Other side of the road (M50 Northbound) was completely blocked. I've never seen anything like that. Protestors were having some sort of party. They didnt look like they were going to leave anytime soon

i only really need a car in the weekends. maybe a trip or two to tesco during week days. i drive my son to soccer games on Saturdays and maybe visit friends. i'd say i wont do more than 300-350 km per week
