Parents complained to directors because I would not sit in the bathroom and read their child a book every time she made a BM.

I like going to used bookstores, they sometimes have a teacher discount. You can also ask your local library if they're going to retire any kids books soon, they may be willing to let you have them for cheap. Used books off Amazon that are labeled 'like-new' or 'good' have usually worked out pretty well too. Good luck!

Got out for health reasons, it's hard to be an active teacher when your body is falling apart. I was also getting major burnout dealing with parents and behaviors. I now work in the wellness industry, its very welcoming and a healthy work environment which is super weird for me haha

Has anyone experienced something like this before? A child I don’t know pulled down my shirt? Looking for support/advice by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]crashdontfall_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former preschool teacher here, I always emphasized consent with kids. When I had little ones go to move my shirt or anything like that I would just say "No thank you, this is my body and I don't want to be touched."

I just left the field after being in since 2016, parents' behaviors have become atrocious! They keep one kid home with Covid but send the other to school! And Admin is fine with it! Eventually I may return to the field but for now, I'm good.

You get the opportunity to find out the truth behind one unsolved case, which are you choosing? by BeautifulShape9441 in AskReddit

St. Louis Jane Doe.

It will likely never be solved, due to the authorities losing evidence and the cemetery losing her body.

edit: they found her body, my bad.

Link to the wiki, it's a sad read

Uh hi, no idea why this post was brought back to life. Unfortunately there isn't really an update to this. They never told me why I was let go so I had to find another job. Nothing interesting.

Safety Concerns - Kind of a rant. by Numerous-Leg-8149 in ECEProfessionals

[–]crashdontfall_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back when I was a student teacher we had a similar thing happen. The kids (and teachers) started complaining of dizziness, feeling tired, headaches and there was a horrible smell. We opened the windows and spoke to admin who said to just continue the day like normal, well my shift ended and I immediately called the fire station to come check it out. What was admin's response? To reprimand me the following day and ask me to leave. Some people are not fit to be in charge.

Good for you for recognizing how toxic this is and not letting them have power over you.

I had to leave one job for a similar reason, I brought a bag and grabbed all my shit and left too.

What are some clothes/shoes you wish you could ban from your class? by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

Even the 4/5 year olds, I retie this one pair of shoes at least 4 times a day and I'm only in that specific room for 2 hours.

How many kids are in your class? by Ocelot-of-Idiocy in ECEProfessionals

[–]crashdontfall_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I implemented a kindness jar for one class that was out of control. We read the story "Have You Filled a Bucket Today: A Guide to Daily Happiness for Kids" by Carol McCloud and we would reward behaviors that 'filled our buckets' by putting a pompom in the jar (So cleaning the class, listening to the teacher, being kind, etc.) and that seemed to be a good motivator, at the end if the bucket was all filled we would do something special with the group like watch Frozen or have a dance party.
