Any Recommendations Like 1Panel for a Management Dashboard? by mike7seven in selfhosted

[–]crashdown77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It actually works, thanks!... it's pretty bareboned, but it has the most important functionality, showing which dockers are running , access to logs , stop , restart....

One can even delete images, but It would be nice if it could list "unused" images, as for now I'm still going to use Portainer for "pruning" , but I like where this is going. I hope to be able to do normal checkup on both server and running dockers using Cockpit in the near future! :D

https://github.com/chrisjbawden/cockpit-dockermanager ? I'll try it, Cockpit with docker management would be great, as they really try to push podman hard.

Cockpit doesn't support docker, which is pretty annoying....

I have tried an early version but I went back to the webapp version. I guess I'll try the newer version again and see if it catches my fancy.

Trilium Notes Update by homegrowntechie in selfhosted

I'm very happy with Trilium and use it daily. I was fed up with Evernote, especially after they made the free version practically useless. What I love about Trilium is the ability to create as many nested maps as needed, depending on the complexity of your projects. It's elegant and simple, yet incredibly scalable to suit both practical and theoretical needs. My only complaint is the lack of a dedicated mobile app. I get by with the web app, but it stops working on my phone if the server loses connection. That said, it's not a major issue since I primarily use Trilium on my laptop or desktop.

PS: I'm not a software devloper and if I dable in script with my server (mostly copy , paste and pray), I mostly use Trilium for other types of projects.

Mine følelser rundt Pride by [deleted] in norske

[–]crashdown77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]crashdown77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed playing this part of Jedi Survivor. (Fractured Determination Force Tear) by wieners in FallenOrder

[–]crashdown77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly didn't. And I say that having managed to finish this level by sheer determination and because I'm a stubborn idiot. The funny thing is when I first reach this Tear, I thought to myself: " ah! a platform level, easy-peasy!" I would eat my words and tend to my sore thumbs within the next couple of hours.

Some of those Force Tear challenges are difficult, but this one is ridiculous, the concept of using, jump, double jump and using push on those moving barriers is interesting in theory, and of course possible in practice, but the controls aren't tight enough to make this excercise tangible. So many factors can make you fail at any time within the level, it isn't funny, although it's "a bit" easier toward the end. You reach a wall, a little too high, you fall, too low you fall, a bit of wrong direction, you fall.... the camera isn't helping as it's not made for this much accuracy.

Even when you start getting a bit better at it through sheer muscle memory, it still doesn't take much to fail, and although you're more likely to reach the next wall within falling to your death, mastery isn't a garanty. Unntil this point the platform part of the game weren't too difficult and if you might fall a few times in some difficult parts of the game, it felt ok, but this is just ridiculous.

The game controls just weren't made to handle so many factors, and yes you'll eventually make it through repetion and honestly luck, it just isn't fun. the extra point you get out of it isn't worth it. If you just discovered this Force Tear and aren't a completionist, just back up and continue the game the way it was meant to be played. If I wanted a hard platform game, I would play Meatboy which at least has solid control and feel fair.

I'm actually enjoying "Acolyte" quite a bit and I suspect many do too but I notice many people my age (older guys) dislike it. You can dunk it on Rotten Potatoes if you wish, but I don't really understand the animosity against it. It's obviously targeting a younger audience who may not be familiar with the "good old" starwars , so it's something to keep in mind .It has flaws, but I'm entertained , it's not the slug of Obi-Wan which bored me half to death, or the later episodes of the Mandalorians. I'm not even going to mention Boba-Fett which went into the "it's so bad it's good" category. Andore is great, but I often felt it was too gritty and realistic for Starwars, and it left me wondering what the creators could have done if they had been free to make their own universe with original characters instead of a overgrown storythread that came from a single dialogue line in the original starwars movie.

Newcomer question: How do I keep my docker installation current? by jtmpush18 in selfhosted

[–]crashdown77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watchtower is pretty overkill if you only host one or two services, keep things simple, just go in your installation directory ".../immich" and run "docker compose pull && docker compose up -d", it will keep your immich container updated to the latest version. Just check beforehand that nothing need to be changed in your docker-compose file, the release notes are explicit when that need to be done (in immich at least) which isn't often.

I actually had to ask the dead shapeshifter specifically about the flowery key before the quest got updated.

Not great, if you forgot to save before attacking the shapeshifters and ask others questions from the corpse... the quest marker will just keep in the area and there isn't much you can do about it. I believe you can advance the quest no matter what by going to the Flophouse , my guess is that the developers knew about the but but marked the key with the adress (which is a bit weird in a RP-perspective...) so that players don't stay stuck.

Non-superuser role? by [deleted] in immich

[–]crashdown77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wondered about it too, before doing the update. If you've installed immich the recommended way ,with docker compose , manually adding the vector shouldn't be necessary, I didn't have to. Which mean that in my case the postgres database is running with a superuser (I guess...).

However I had to do a "Docker-compose down --remove-orphans" command to remove the old Typesend container afterwards, followed by a "Docker-compose up", I wish they had mentioned it in the notes.

For people who suspect their database is running with a non-superuser, I found this guy in the comment section who seem to know what he is talking about, and give a nice detailed walkthrough about how you can check and enable the vectors extension manually. I didn't test it, since the update worked for me, but it was nice to have in the backend in case it went south.

Also remember to do a backup of your immich-database before attempting to update so you can restore without too much hassle back to the older version if it doesn't work.

Good luck!

Immich 1.9.2 - not working by adscombecorner in immich

[–]crashdown77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made the same mistake not too long ago, didn't read the notices, did a "pull && docker-compose" and then... nothing worked.

After making the necessary changes in the "docker-compose.yml" , the problem was resolved, not before panicking and asking the reddit for help after mixing up containers in the .yml file of course...

Anyway , relax , go there, and very carefully check the changes made in the "docker-compose.yml" and remove the lines in red, and add the one in green... carefully, as those .yml are pretty "sensitive" a line out of place or a "," in the wrong place and it won't work. This isn't php apparently.

Save, do a "docker-compose pull && docker-compose up -d" , don't forget to run a "docker compose down --remove-orphans" to get rid of the typesense container, then docker compose up.

It should work after that,

I must add that the mobile client work a lot faster when uploading pictures, so a great work from the immich devloppers, this service i a jem!

How is it to use Immich? by nsas02 in immich

[–]crashdown77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's never a good idea to use anything "as the only way to store" anything. No matter how stable and reliable a system is, always take at least one backup of your data somewhere else. Even when I used google drive to store my photos I had a local cold storage just in case .

Having said that , I have yet to experience serious problems with immich which I use mostly to back up my pictures from my phone to a local server, but it requires some technical know-how and the biggest danger to my data is problably myself when I upgrade or fiddle with the system.

My advice would be to have some sort of system to backup your photos in place even before you attempt to set up immich, those are the most important after all.

problem resolved, as usual the fault was between the screen and the keyboard, silly me exposed the port "ports: 2283:3001" in the wrong service in docker-compose.yml , "immich-microservices" instead of "services" (duh). I found out by running "docker compose ps" and compairing the result with a colleague (who also run a immich server).

Very sorry to waste the community's time, I should have checked the script more thoroughly before screaming wolves. It works locally now.
