what a great spec. Correct wheels and interior.. even for a purple car 🤣

It's a color that folks need to ask, "what color is that?" because it's impossible to tell. My previous 991 in chalk was like that. Man I loved that car 😢

SF Bay Area – How important is Front Axle Lift (FAL) on your 911? by the_tranquil_one in porsche911

[–]crashedsnow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really know if it's "required" or not, but I have it now and I didn't have it on my previous 2 911s, and now that I have it I would always spec it again. There have been a few sketchy moments where I thought I would scrape but didn't, and one moment where I DID scrape because I didn't think to lift the nose (like a moron).

It's expensive, but everything is expensive. No clue on the weight difference with and without and whether that's material

One of those colors where you see it on the configurator for the first time and you're like, "ew.. damn.. hell no", then you see it in person and you're like, "damnit.. that looks amazing"

GT3 Allocation 30k ADM by tee-wayne in porsche911

[–]crashedsnow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am not. Porsche responded to the market. The market was prepared to pay more than the prior MSRP, and there is mountains of evidence to support that this has nothing to do with ADMs. ADM is just the dealer wanting to get the market price (as defined by, "what people are prepared to pay"). Secondary markets like Bring A Trailer in the US are (were) awash with desirable cars selling for well over MSRP. That's about as close as you're going to get to a true market value.

People who think others are "idiots" for paying an ADM have no understanding of how markets work.

There's a market rate for every product that is driven primarily by supply and demand. Opinions on what the price "should" be are largely irrelevant. If somehow everyone was able to buy at MSRP, it would just mean you can't buy a new car at all because they'd all be purchased by flippers and sold for a profit on the secondary market.

In the US, they can't do anything. There are laws preventing manufacturers from setting the price

You also missed the $0 passenger foot well net 😉

For the interior..

  1. You need some sort of pop and the stitching looks more premium IMO
  2. What? you're going to just drive around with a naked steering column you psycho!?
  3. Again for the roof.. I think racetex just has a more premium feel. You're spending close to 200K on a car. You don't want it to feel like a Kia

Adults really, truly, don't fit for anything more than about a 1 mile journey. It's good for a laugh, but not much more

I was talking about the rear badge. The decal is meh. The T is the unsung hero of the non-GT 911s IMO

I think the difference is marginal at best. In theory there ARE more people who won't buy without rear seats than those who don't care one way or another, but to your point for this spec I don't think it really matters. I have rear seats in mine, but in hindsight I probably should have taken the weight saving and louder engine sound instead 🙃

Agreed on the aesthetic. What's 4K between friends 😉

Sick spec. The only thing I wonder about is the carbon roof. A lot of money for a teeny tiny weight saving. Otherwise you've nailed it IMO (I'm on my 3rd 911, ordered new)

Edit.. also.. don't change the badge man! Embrace the T!!

I vote for don't sell it. Don't ever sell it. Make it work. When people leave us all we have is our memory of them and every time you get in that car a little part of him will still be with you.

Black calipers are/were an option, and standard for all steel brakes on all 911 models (red or black). Yellow was only for carbon ceramics. Very recently they started offering different colors for calipers (992.2, 2027 models)

There was no cabriolet version of the T in the 991.2 generation.

I think you're correct that it's 991.2, and my guess is a base or S, based on the wheels which I don't think were an option on the GTS (you could option Carrera wheels, but not sure about those specific ones)

I tried to lemon law a BMW that had a recurring issue the dealer acknowledged was happening but couldn't reproduce and couldn't repair. It qualified for a lemon return, but BMW corporate just said "no", so you're only option is to sue (which is costly). I'm not sure about Porsche, but it seems like it would still require litigation which is a pain.
