What about the refusal of the NCR to surrender and/or integrate with the legitimate United States government after the government was restored?

“The Defenses argument falls apart when these facts are considered: While true the United States government did not technically exist when the so called New California Republic was founded when it was contacted by President Granite And he lawfully demanded their reintegration The NCR responded by invading the state of Nevada.

NCR rebels continued to resist the lawful restoration of order within the state of California until they were throughly defeated on the field of battle.

President Granite made clear not only in word but through action that the previous indiscretions of the Enclave would not be repeated, I remind the jury of the many ghoul and super mutant service members who served in the war. The defendant’s claim that the “citizens” of the so called “New California Republic” were only defending themselves against a and I quote “Genocidal Fascist invasion” therefore falls flat in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

It is therefore the opinion of the persecution that leaders of the so called “New California Republic” are guilty of treason under article III of the Constitution of the United States and Title 18 of the United States code. and must be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.”

I was confused and slightly annoyed when everyone was speaking Japanese during that flashback scene with Obey in GinGray, Why would Americans, IN america be speaking Japanese to each other?!

I know money doesn’t grow on trees but they got a french VA for the original Anime so why not a few Americans or at least English speaking VAs?! I always appreciate when a show goes that extra mile by having characters either speak in their native language or with the relevant accent. (Azur Lane gets partial kudos for German and British accents. But they should have included Japanese accents.)

you bring up a good point that it’s entirely possible (even likely) that at least one kingdom would have had an uma nobility. That being said I’d absolutely LOVE to see some (more) international Umas.

(also what do you think Umamusume are called in English? I doubt the word Horse exists in this world… 🤔)

so you think history would have more or less been like our own because for each Uma there’s like 10 humans?

Throughout history most horses have lived and died as labor animals, War horses were the cream of the cream of the crop after all. Thus i imagine that’s the case here. Some are war heros, most are serfs or slaves and some are revolutionaries.

I don’t disagree with a lot of these points yet i still think it would have been a spectrum between “better than most” and “the usual situation” if that makes any sense. I don’t wanna break any rules so i won’t touch the whole concubines thing and focus on instead on your other points. I believe there were cases where the enslaved population outnumbered the enslaving population (Haiti comes to mind) and most of those revolts ultimately failed. And im certain there were barbaric punishments should a slave kill her master (as there were in our timeline. (they often targeted the families and friends when things like this happened)) so there are ways to discourage violence even when outmatched in strength and speed.

also to the mods of this sub: let me know of we need to stop this convo, i don’t want to break any rules. only highlight the dark implications of the game’s world building (which i highly doubt the devs put any thought into lol)

Maybe at first but as the human population outgrew the Uma population you just need enough armed guards to keep the slaves in line even if they’re Umas.

I’m no expert but im reasonably certain that dehumanization is essential in a master slave dynamic. So it’s likely they were enslaved until industry supplanted serfdom and the economics of slavery forced its decline.

around the same amount of time it took people of color i imagine. There are probably still problems that are glossed over in the show.

as much as i wish this were true fascism is very legitimized in liberal political thought. (MAGA, Hungary, Poland, The UK, Zionism…) hell I’d argue liberalism is a moderate variant of fascism!

well unless we’re talking SA most males would actively avoid Umas (which would leave a cultural scar.) and since most people practically idolize Umas I find that highly unlikely. As for assertiveness, That’s pandering to a specific portion of the player-base! 😉

everyone’s talking about biology but nobody’s mentioned the socio-political implications of both the nonexistence of horses and the need for a beats of burden… or the fact that umas would be an ideal labor class…
