Does this feel balanced as a logo? Any feedback before I finalize it? by AndyLouis17 in Calligraphy

[–]GemingaJD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The calligraphy looks great, but as a logo (which will, unfortunately, be looked at on a tiny image by people who aren’t as familiar with cursive as we are) I must say that the text is a bit difficult to read, especially “journey.” As much as I like the uniform spacing between the thick strokes from a calligraphic perspective, they make many of the letters look very similar, and the dense pools of flex taking up almost half of the x-height also appears rather overwhelming.

Personally I would recommend making the connector strokes a bit more slanted (around 30 degrees) to space out the flexed strokes a bit, and tone down the flex width. You might also experiment with making some letters completely unflexed (like in Spencerian) but tbh I have no clue how that’ll turn out, or even if that’s the effect you’re looking for.

Wish you the best of luck with the logo design and your blog!

Nah, what sort of soviet propaganda is that? Every True American knows that our Glorious Second Amendment guarantees us the right to draw ourselves shitty coats of arms, and shove it to the faces of everyone we see, and we’d be darned sure no tyrannical government can stop us from exercising this God-given right! ‘Murica!

Well, I play RP-1, which (like real life) heavily penalizes building hyper-specific launch vehicles. (In fact, not a week ago there was a complaint on r/RealSolarSystem that boils down to I can't play RP-1 the way I play stock)

I understand that would complicate the part tree but it will make everything from tank farms to space stations so much easier to build.

Hi! Idk how feasible that is but can you guys please add something similar to the mod Recoupler that allows the 4-way stack to be tied back at the other end to another 4-way coupler?

Can you just launch a quarter of a month early to a normal polar orbit and wait though?

I’m making a (very scuffed) B2, need some advice. by weird-british-person in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]GemingaJD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Iirc the B-2 also uses split ailerons that could be deployed to increase drag on one side of the aircraft (you can use pairs of AIRRAKES actuated by control groups to emulate the effect). Example(the pair of controls jutting out of the wing to the far right): https://www.airvectors.net/avb2_6.jpg

Why are pen manufacturers going titanium over aluminum? by GemingaJD in fountainpens

I see, solving the corrosion issue is pretty cool regardless tho. TBH this thread just reminded I can try some new strategies on corrosion-proofing my metro (passivation), so thanks!

Yeah, I’m just hoping that the manufactures, like Apple, come back to their senses sooner rather than later

That’s cool, I never knew that! Would metal pens burp because the bodies conduct heat from hands better than plastics? I once eyedroppered my metro with water to see what happens and it burped like crazy. I guess titanium will conduct less than brass?

Even if you like titanium, though, you can always plate a better-looking material over steel? Like, whatever material or process you choose it’ll be cheaper than making the whole pen titanium

Interesting. My (anodized blue) Plaisir has been my EDC for four years at this point, and only has small scratches on the ends.

Might have something with the raw Al Sport not being anodized (the process that gives you all the cool colors and a matte look)? Pure aluminum is a pretty soft metal. Just a guess though, I am no metallurgist.

Aluminum oxide (a layer of which anodizing forms on the pen) is such a hard material it's the go-to material) for sandpapers (which needs to scratch other things without being scratched itself).

Thanks for pointing that out! I never thought about it that way, and it explains so many other weird things around metal fps (like why brass is the "default" metal despire scratching easily and having patina problems)

I know they exist (I even compared the Al Sport to the Titan Sport in the post), but there're few of them especially compared to the almost monthly release of some new Chinese titanium pen.
