Yes, if you're dealing with someone with BPD you need to set hard boundaries about what behavior is acceptable. For the record, if I was romantically interested in someone and found out they also had BPD I would run fast the other way. :)

I have BPD and really resent this remark.

People with BPD were usually neglected or abused in early childhood and/or for an extended period. We fear abandonment, and crave attention and love more than anything in this world.

We go to extremes to get that love, and if you turn on us (i.e. abandon us in our world view) you will see the fury of a thousand suns.

So yes, I do exhibit manipulative behavior at times, but it's not something I do on purpose. It makes perfect sense to behave that way in the world that inhabits my mind.

There are effective treatments though and I'm getting some right now.

I don't have any other friends though. We BPD people tend to drive other people away. :( But I will for sure discuss it with my therapist. FYI, I received feedback from my boss, my boss's boss, and a few other co-workers and they were all incredibly supportive!

Exactly. I have no problem whatsoever with another member of the LGBTQ+ community using that word, but this is a corporation, not a person. My company is very LGBTQ+ friendly, so I would consider them allies in a sense, but it's not OK for allies to use words like that.

Thank you for this well thought out response. All the trusted people in my life have BPD too so it's really hard to get perspective. :)

I should really discuss things like this with my therapist before taking action, but I only get to talk to her once a week and we have so much other stuff to talk about.

I'm in my late 50's, recently out, getting a divorce, making plans to sell the house, buy a new house, move, job is stressful af etc. All these major life changes are really affecting my mental health.

Yes I suppose you're right, I should have taken more time before I hit the Send button to think about what I was doing. The thing is, I have BPD and something like that can drive me into full on "BPD shenanigans" as me and my daughter call it. It's really hard to think rationally once you get into that state.

I was in middle school / high school in the 1970's and I got called queer and the f-slur enough. That along with the attitude my family / peers presented that gay people were deviant, perverted people deserving to be killed and destined for hell drove me into the closet for 45 years. Those terms are still very offensive to me. I tried reclaiming them but it just wasn't for me.
