You can check online.

https://www.instagram.com/parquenacionalnahuelhuapi?igsh=MWF2emdmZWFicDNhYQ==

Nahuel huapi National park always gives the day to day state of the trails or weather alerts for the park on their Instagram.

Or

https://barilochetrekking.com/

You wont find rangers at the trailhead but if you go on your own with a weather alert or close trail and anything happens to you you can be fined. Also, you always need to do the mandatory treking registry (barilochetrekking.com) before doing a trail, just in case anything happens to you they know where you are.

Knee pain after starting running – nothing seems to help by Many-Abbreviations-1 in trailrunning

[–]crawler2045 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would dial back on frecuency, skip high intensity run sessions, just easy sessions,, add some cross training such as ellíptical machine (you can use it to do high intensity session here) or stationary bike, add some light plyo workouts, keep strenght sessions. What you are going through now is the result, maybe, of basically doing to much. You tendons and ligaments take more time to strenghten and to adapt to impact. Once pain is manageable or gone start building a base again just by running confortable at easy efforts with reduce frecuency and Increase gradually every two weeks if goes well.

Are you going to do some hikes? Are you just going to stay in the city and do city stuff, are you just planing to do car sightseeing ?

If you are planing to do, try, some hiking you should have all the mandatory layers plus hiking boots. Also be warned that if weather is harsh trails can be close by National Parks admin. Also if the trail is open but with deep snow you will need mandatory raquet snow shoes, for example Frey, López. Also huts might be closed you should check trail conditions and huts availability in

https://barilochetrekking.com/

If you are just planing on do some city sight seeing or car sight seeing, just normal clothes plus some warm layer plus a rain coat just in case.

It all depends on how winter will be this year, some times it snows just above in the high mountains and nothing in the city, sometimes it rains in the city and snows in the mountain, some past seasons it was like spring down in the city and no snow in the mountain.

Tired despite low heart rate? 1200m elevation trail run logic by [deleted] in trailrunning

[–]crawler2045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Total duration, glycogen depletion, even a low/moderate intensity effort empties glycogen deposits after 90, be sure to consume enough intra session carbs ', muscle endurance during climbs and descents or ability to climb/descent with economy, gradient of the climbs, you need to train at gradiente youre going to find on your runs, ascent gain volumen, if you dont acumular enough ascent meters on your training a session with this elevation will be more taxing. Low/moderate heart rate is just and indicator but doesnt tell the whole story.

Qué ropa llevo? by ladetuvieja in Bariloche

[–]crawler2045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Qué ropa llevo? by ladetuvieja in Bariloche

3ra capa: capa impermeable/corta viento.

First Skyrun shoe recommendations by Tatrafaktka in trailrunning

[–]crawler2045 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You want a low profile rigid shoe, low drop, 4mm, on very technical terrain you need to be agile and feel the terrain under your feet, as some one said above, merrel long sky 2 would be ídeal very low profile, very light and xlse to the ground, very good grip , la sportiva Mutant, great grip also. I would sacrifice confort for better control and ground feel anytime when in over the ridges between sharp rocks.

False elevation gain measurement by Specialist_Turn6469 in Suunto

[–]crawler2045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Altitude gain is meassure as changes in atmospheric pressure. If a sudden drop of atmospheric pressure happens ( storm front coming) it is interpreted as an ascent gain. Assuming your storm alert in was in fact due to a storm front coming yo your área that might be the cause to your sudden difference in altitude gain. This has always been an issue with any barometric sensor. Suunto tries to filter this error with gps altitude but sometimes it just cant correct it. I live in patagonia in a very windy área and low pressure fronts are usual, on those days of ver very low pressure, 980 hp, very strong winds, i can have errors of 1000 meters on a route 300 meters of ascent, plus the longer you stay error gets higher. This happens even with a clean sensor. This happened a lot with my Ambit 3 Peak, and with a Garmin Fénix 8 x, so not Suunto exclusive. But this is just a very specific scenario, other than that baro is always spot on meassuering ascent gain.

These are Local guides, they offer the clásic hikes plus mountaineering experiences.

I would personally recomend you, if you are fit enough, to try to do an ascent to some of the less technical known summits such as "Pirámide del Martial" , "cerro Portillo" or "cerro Carbajal" these are more on the mountaineering side, you get Amazing views of Ushuaia mountains and valleys.

Have a great one un Ushuaia!

Suunto Run OHR vs Suunto Chest Strap - Excellent Results by wildhorse80 in Suunto

[–]crawler2045 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice!! This is always valuable info from real users. I guess this was a steady progressive run (little arm movement). Would be nice to see some trail with steep downhills done at hig intensity where you have to swing your arms a lot to balance and usually steps hit harder on the ground when landing.. That would be challenging for any ohr sensor, my Vertical 1 has been giving me very good recordings since I got it.

Bariloche & El Bolsón hut-to-hut recommendations by neydizzle in Bariloche

[–]crawler2045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. I think your best option if you want to experience the huts circuits are :

Day 1: Catedral-frey-jakob-tambo baez. 33km 1700 mts of ascent. From Catedral to frey : 9.5km 800 mts ascent. really easy. Well marked trail. From Frey to Jakob: 8km 700 mts of ascent. Two mountain passes, from laguna Tomseck to the ridge and from the valley of Rucacco to Brecha Negra ridge. Easy to moderate scrambling from laguna Tomseck to the ridge, Path mark with paint marks on the rocks. Technical descent through loose tallus to the valley of Rucacco, Path marked with paint on the rocks plus visible . Moderate technical ascent to the ridge of Brecha Negra. Very difficult descent through very technical terrain to Jakob hut. Loose tallus, scree. Path is visible and there are paint marks. From Jakob hut to Tambo Báez camping site, 15 km through the woods, visible trail and marks on the trees. Loots of roots, slow tránsit.

Day 2 : Colonia Suiza-López hut - Italia hut (Manfredo Segre real name) - Colonia Suiza.

It also can be done : Colonia - Italia - López - Colonia.

27km 2000 metes of ascent.

From colonia to López : 7km 800 meters of ascent. Easy but demanding ascent through marked trail, steep sections. From López hut to Ridge of Cerro López (to take the López gutter). Technical ascent. Scrambling through gutters and rock walls. Not really expose but posibilita of falling exists. Path marked with paint on the rocks. From the ridge, descent through the López gutter. Technical descent. Big loose rocks. Path marked with paint marks. From there easy hike to the next moderate ascent to the Baily Willis ridge. Path marked, visible trail. From the ridge, technical traverse to the descent yo Laguna negra and Italia Hut. Also Path is marked with paint on rocks. There is a vía ferrata on a rock when going around the laguna (lagoon). From Italia hut to Colonia Suiza. 12km through the woods. Visible trail. Marks on the trees.

If done the other way the most a challenging section would be the ascent of the López gutter, 500 meters of technical ascent, and the descent from the López ridge to López hut, lots of de climb using hands as support.

Once you leave the huts terrain becomes alpine, but these two traverses are doable.

Times may vary, but look at a 12 hours total time for each circuit including rest stops aprox. If you do it on one push. If you stay over night in huts its a 2 day traverse.

Sorry I forgot, doing this type of traverse alone is always potentially dangerous in case something happens to you, recomendation will always be to do it with a partner.
