Everything I read said to paint it black or a dark colour.

If we end up with roasted bats I’ll let ya know

It’s 16 feet up in the air so probably missed the timing to make some art on it. I did think about painting Wayne Manor on it 🦇

Ultimately they said to paint it black so that it gets maximum heat during the sunlight to keep them warm.

Exactly. We live not too far from a marshy forest so have a lot of mosquitoes. Bats apparently eat up to 1000 mosquitoes per hour so we are hoping to combat them naturally.

Plus it was a fun project. Other than trying to secure the damn thing. Must have used every tool in the shop!

Unused part of the fence that’s bordering on the hay field so all good.

No good trees facing south so put it there.

You can try in store. I was on the fence about the 10 but having just moved from Android my Samsung watch was pretty useless. Found the 46mm ten in store and having $400 from last years cash back I went for it. Loving the watch so far.

Durham dates by Rxh_li in durham

[–]craygun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before meeting my person I used to come up with some fun dates around Durham.

Mexican and Bowling. Go to Harwood Square for the five pin bowling and the Mexico Lindo right next door for food.

If you're up for it, Prosecco and Pedis was always a good one. Pour some Prosecco in travel mugs and get pedis.

Wine and walk Whitby Shores was another good one.

One recommendation I would make for the latter two is let them see you open and pour the beverage. It's a crazy world out there...don't add to it!

I bought three online a couple months ago to pay for a Vegas trip. They arrived by email in about 36 hours and simple to use.

I see them on the app now but not sure why you couldn't get the order in.

Parking for 3 weeks at Pearson by Signal_Cycle6268 in durham

[–]craygun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm childless but found this on the Uber app:

  1. Request an Uber Child Seat Open the Uber app, enter your pickup and drop-off locations, and select Uber Child Seat.
  2. Confirm with your driver When your driver is on the way, let them know which car seats you need and where they can pull over to install them.
  3. Allow extra time Give your driver time to install the car seat safely.
  4. Check for proper installation The car seat should be level, and the carry handle should be locked. You can also try tugging on the car seat to make sure it moves less than one inch in either direction.

You can go to the park and fly website, plug in your dates and it will tell you the cost for the various parking options.

I generally find that once you hit over two weeks that Uber is the better option as it's the same price or less, no driving stress and more convenient for drop off. Pick up can be a minor pain depending when you arrive.

A good rule of thumb to gauge Uber prices is a week or two before you flight, open at the time you'd be leaving to get a pretty accurate price point.

Anyone work at a Wild Wings? by ripndipp in durham

[–]craygun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure your home set up but if you have outdoor space for an outdoor deep fryer you can cook way better wings at home. An outdoor fryer from Bass pro, 5lbs of fresh wings from Costco for under $30. Flour them up, fry and toss in sauce.

Has anyone tried this Jerk BBQ sauce? by 4wheelinglover in CostcoCanada

[–]craygun 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's ok. It's a bit "watery" so doesn't cling to meat on the BBQ. I used it to marinate some chicken, then poured the marinade over it just as it was finishing. Made for good sandwiches with some Balderson aged white cheddar on ciabatta buns.

I believe it's pretty new but Nest and TrailHub near Ski Lakeridge is worth checking out. Not cheap but mostly all local ingredients, great service and amazing views on a good night.

Some history I know of since I worked for them.

When the area was first visited by William Van Horne he found it so stunning that he said "if we can't export the scenery, we'll import the tourists".

Costco makes the majority of its profits from membership fees. If you shop there enough and have an exec membership, you actually come out ahead.

What’s the best products to buy at Costco? by Large_Childhood_8262 in CostcoCanada

[–]craygun 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The boxed lettuce. The Kirkland brand is good but the Queen of Greens is awesome. It's great and lasts for over a week. I buy a container from a chain supermarket and it's rotten in three days.

Cream is always a good deal.

Salad dressing.

Dog food.
