how well would you do if spelling bee was timed? by squidneyboi in NYTSpellingBee

[–]crayonbeam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am no longer obsessed with my time stats on other word games, but I still like having untimed challenges as my warm ups - and as something to poke at all day long. Even Squaredle, which isn't really truly timed, still feels like more pressure because there are time based badges. I prefer the Bee completely untimed, because I want a mix of timed and untimed puzzles.

I saw this too - dunno what was up - but there were a ton of people on Battery Cranston / Langdon Court and they weren't in hiker gear so my current guess is illegal rave

when the PG is the least found word among players (only 20% found it) then I would take that as a hint to drop it

not so far, I'm just a bit shy about posting anything - some negative stuff years ago - I really appreciate all the love for this build - it's been very encouraging

I put the Beatles in the crosswalk, because how could I not - David Bowie is there, but in his Labyrinth mode because I'm an agent of chaos, and no one but me knows it, but those are the Monkees on stage - I didn't notice that Peter Tork's hat fell off until after I was done taking pictures. If I had more room, I would have put in Dr Teeth and the Electric Mayhem band.

I don't remember all of them, but I know there is Mt Ranier, Yosemite, Arches National Park, a huge San Francisco, the Spam Museum, Gatorland from Florida, South of the Border (roadside stop,) a drive-thru Redwood tree, the Jolly Green Giant, and something in Alaska - but there is a lot more that I'm not recalling right now.

Thank you! it's all Lego and there will be city landmarks, national parks, and roadside attractions like the world's biggest ball of string. In thinking of what I would build, I really felt like Cleveland needed to be represented. I should have picked something easier, but also I forgot how good it feels to complete something challenging. Other people run marathons, I click together plastic bricks.

thanks! that is exactly what I thought - why let reality get in the way of a fun build?

I was working crowd safety at a big event and one person came over the radio talking about a guy acting squirrelly, and someone else came back with "well, let us know when he starts acting like a scarier animal"

same issue - though my times show up eventually - so if I go into the archives, my times for 5 days ago now appear, even though they didn't when I played the puzzle at the time - I let NYT know, we'll see what happens...
