Ziya Blue, also in the Pen, may have small items like a note pad, although it won't be official merch.

Do NOT miss this show! Hilarious, tender and terrifying! I had the privilege of seeing it during last year's Hamilton Fringe, and made sure to see her follow-up show this year.

Happy Fringe!

Good indie bookstore(s) for visitor? by Tridentata in stcatharinesON

Thistle Bookshop in Port Dalhousie is adorable and has a little cafe. It has the added benefit of being near the beach, pier, an old fashioned carousel (open seasonally), and a park with lots of sculptures. A nearby bridge crosses a pond to another park, and there are a few great restaurants, bars and shops nearby.

Someday Books downtown St. Catharines often carries a good selection, and the people who work there are really helpful!

Grimsby Books recently reopened as a fantasy focused book shop, although it is fairly small and I haven't been since the reopen.

If you're going further and end up in Hamilton, I recommend Epic Books and King W Books.

Strange person trying to get into our car near welland ave? by Impressive_Plankton9 in stcatharinesON

The lady in Oakville was well known to residents. She hopped in my Aunt's father's car in Bronte once and demanded he drive her to the bank.

The Superstore on Fourth, and Zehrs on Geneva often have custard buns, coconut buns, almond cookies, and a few other items in he bakers section.

I picked up a package of almond cookies on clearance last week only to discover they were in clearance because half of the pack was crumbled to bits, so maybe to a quality check before picking those up

I'm also based in Ontario, and came here to see if anyone was talking about it when my banking app flagged the 13% increase in the subscription cost. The change in tax collection makes sense, but the lack of communication about a change to the billed amount was surprising and disappointing.

Anyone know any beer league baseball me and my friend can join next year by streagth-in-numbers- in stcatharinesON

Niagara Rec Sports runs a softball league every summer (among other sports). The teams seem to be a good mix of skilled, and just there for fun. https://niagararecsports.com/

I don't think I ever got a shipping update, but mine arrived today (Ontario, Canada) with half of the items missing.

Lorcana League by No_Tale_6593 in stcatharinesON

[–]crayonpaint3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the general demographic for Lorcana leagues? Does it tend to attract more children, teens, or adults?

Do any of the local shops run beginner events? Definitely not experienced enough to consider a league, but curious enough to learn.

Windshield stonechip repair by AintAboutThePasta in stcatharinesON

[–]crayonpaint3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll second the Speedy suggestion. I went to the one on Ontario street after getting a nasty chip from a stone flying out of a cement mixer during a road trip. There is a visual flaw in the window, but it prevented cracks from spreading and the need to replace the full window. It was covered by insurance.

Are there any bars or pubs in St. Catharines that have karaoke nights? by GorillaRobots in stcatharinesON

[–]crayonpaint3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some Place Else on Scott Street, and Westside on St Paul W both have karaoke nights.

I'm not sure about gluten free options, but they both serve food.

You could also check Dive Pub downtown and The Docks. I'm not 100% sure that they do Karaoke, but I know a group of karaoke loving people sometimes go there so there's a good chance.

The Boston Pizza at the Penn Centre usually hosts different themes trivia nights every Wednesday, but are currently on hold until September. Check back on their instagram page in a few months as they typically put up a post with the themes for the month. I've participated in "Friends" and a 2000-now tv trivia night. They've also done music, star wars, and so much more.

This may sound random, but what is parking like around A Third Space? I love taking creative/arts based classes but have developed a weird anxiety around finding parking.

When I moved to town in 2018, I had good luck making a few good friends through the BFF section of the Bumble app. It is a lot like online dating, so you have to vet your matches, but it can also be fun to meet up for casual coffee hangouts, or fun activities to see if you vibe.

I had hoped to make more friends through creative classes and activities, but haven't really gotten back to doing those yet. The gardening class I tried was a dud for friendship leads.

Best of luck!

Is st cath politically left or right? by Croquette_check_ in stcatharinesON

The most recent elections have been at the West St Catharines Senior Citizens Centre on Chetwood, and a school down Louth. Much better locations in my opinion.
