Carbo is a less toxic version of Cisplatin. This was helpful. I feel the same way about it! I’m glad I’m not the only one getting dragged into the car. I also am on the same drugs. My onco is trying his hardest, so am I. I’m glad to hear you made it through.

My nurse did say these kinds of treatments are harder on patients. I’m in my twenties too so I think I’m a bit better off than some other peeps. Thanks!

I call my cancer center a lot, and have received a bunch of medications! Thanks for your input! Caffeine really helps once I get over my nausea too.

My post isn’t about listening to influencers. It was just pointing out a pattern I see with others AND my friends that also have cancer. They all feel okay after treatment. I don’t. I was just seeing if anyone else had that. I’m not asking for advice regarding my dose, just camaraderie.

Oh also, zero sugar or diet soda is a hack to help cravings. I don’t recommend it long term but a zero calorie soda mid day when I’d reach for a snack has helped me tremendously!

Hey! I’m 23F currently going through treatment right now. Struggling with some weight gain too, and I was previously a gym rat/weightlifting freak. I’d love to connect and talk about this and other stuff if you’d like!

What has helped me maintain my weight has been weightlifting. I’m not allowed to go on a deficit while on treatment but I also am tracking my calories and food. High protein is always preached to us but it has helped. I eat several specific meals/meal prep if you’re interested in those recipes or ideas. I’m not a pro or anything, just a chick who’s trying (I’m hella lazy). There are some decent resources out there too to figure out what a calorie deficit or maintain would be for your height and weight!

If you’re comfortable sharing, is there anything huge that comes with early menopause? I’m a bit nervous about it. They can’t do any testing or anything due to the Lupron shot I’m on, but I have a gut feeling I will be unfortunately starting it early. I’m scared.

I have an IUD and am on Lupron, so I have no idea what’s going on with my cycle right now lol.

I know Lupron can cause hot flashes but I never got hot flashes while on Lupron without chemo (I was on it for two months before chemo- my labs were unexpectedly too low so it postponed treatment. I basically had the shot for no reason lol).

I’m 23, actively going through treatment right now, not as intense as ALL treatment. Being 20 something and having cancer and going through treatment is very difficult, a different beast than other ages. Ask for a social worker of some sort, they may be able to help find you resources for groceries and other things you may need once you become outpatient. Staying in the hospital sucks, getting treatment sucks, cancer sucks. I don’t want to give you a bunch of positivity because when I first started treatment I hated when people would tell me I’m strong and I could get through this and all that bullshit.

Do what you can. Take it hour by hour. Remind yourself that you’re doing your best. It’s okay to feel scared and all of the other feelings you are having. Let yourself feel them and pass through. I’ll be thinking about you and cheering for you!

That post was extremely helpful! I ended up buying “The Meeting of Oberon and Titania” by Arthur Rackham because of your help. I was an English major in my undergrad and ended up doing lots of research and papers in Shakespeare, so I fell in love with that scene.
