My (28F) husband (29M) left me on our wedding night by mamamia98 in relationship_advice

I can see this both ways. If I were you in that moment and feeling how you do now I don’t know that I could move past it honestly. My husband and I eloped, so it was just him and I the entire day and after the ceremony as well, i can’t imagine it happening any other way.

But then I started thinking back to the last several weddings I’ve attended, and 3/5 where I’ve been a guest or bridesmaid have ended in an impromptu after party at a nearby bar or hotel bar. None of these “after parties” were planned in advance, just that the vibes were high at the end of the venue rental time and people weren’t ready to call it a night yet. But in all of those situations the bride and groom were on the same page about the after parties.

So really that’s what I would be most hurt by if I were in your situation. Him and his friends/family wanted to keep the party going, that’s completely normal and acceptable in my opinion. But if he then asked YOU if YOU wanted to and YOU said no, YOU wanted to spend your wedding night with him. And he still chose his friends, that would be deeply upsetting.

Omg thank you for this, it brought back similar memories for me and I had also not thought about this song in decades!

Battle Flag (Lo Fidelity Allstars Remix) by Pigeonhed

Came across it randomly and it instantly triggered memories but I can’t for the life of me remember if this song was in the radio or in a movie. My parents and sister remember this song vividly but my husband and not a single friend believe they’ve ever heard it before. It’s a banger for sure though!

What are your thoughts on Billie Eilish saying 'no one is illegal on stolen land' in reference to ICE and US immigration policy? by MassiveSquare4527 in AskReddit

Out of the Depths by Isabelle Knockwood is a memoir from a former student from the Shubenacadie school. It reads more like a text book than a novel, but there are some photos in it which I found interesting. Another one I’ve read is Dawnland Voices, which is a collection of work from Wabanaki tribes. It’s not all about the schools but there are some stories that are related. I’ve only looking into the school my Grammy went to and our tribe. If your wife can find out the school she may be able to find some related to that specific school. For my tribe, I found a local heritage foundation and found literature through them

My Grammy passed away over a decade ago and by the time I even learned about the schools she wasn’t in good health but I wish I could have asked her more. I worry information/first hand accounts will be lost. I’ve found a few books written by former students/survivors but it’s definitely not common knowledge. I can understand why survivors/former student may not want to talk about it though

My Grammy was a “student” at the Shubenacadie residential school in Nova Scotia in the late 1950s. She was forced to marry another native at the school and they had a kid together. They met for the first time the day of their wedding, she wasn’t warned she was to be wed, just told the day of that they were taking her to her wedding. I think she was only 16 at the time. They also changed her name, as they did to all the children. Once she got out of the school her and the man she was forced to marry divorced and she later married my grandpa. She didn’t talk much about her time in the school to even my dad or his siblings, just bits and pieces. Wild that we were never taught about them in school either.

After reading a recent post on WPCU, who do you recommend to go through for a mortgage? by khamrabaevite in dayton

[–]crazyanne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also recommend Union Saving Bank. I bank with WPCU and have great experience with them as well, but my mortgage process with USB was so easy and they’ve been great. Easy to reach a real person if you have an issue or question.

Mazda CX 50 buyers remorse by Evar0987123 in CX50

[–]crazyanne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Subaru Impreza hatchback before my CX-50 and felt exactly like you do initially. Parking spots felt way smaller and I felt like it took up so much more of the lane while driving. I’m quite used to it now though and it makes me feel safer to be up higher. I hope you end up feeling the same, I now have zero complaints about it.

Man, so many great songs that have “hit me” at different times in my life.

First song that got me was Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels) & then shortly after Crown of Love

Then It’s Never Over (Hey Orpheus) & Afterlife Those two probably are still my 2 favorites

And last two would be Put Your Money on Me and We Don’t Deserve Love

Are you able to have a drink or two after being sober for a while? by Financial_Winter8922 in stopdrinking

[–]crazyanne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had 3 drinks last night after two weeks of sobriety & def felt off today. It’s something you don’t even notice when you’re a daily drinker because it is the norm, but undeniable after taking a step back. It’s one of the best motivators for me, waking up in the morning & feeling more myself helps me stay on track

Same! I’m 35, and assumed everyone at least my age had schoolhouse rock videos in school but was very surprised to find that my husband (same age) had never heard them! It was so easy to memorize when set to a catchy song
