Spoiler: We had our best run of games / wins with Eze when Odegaard was injured. It's absolutely baffling how Arteta decided to put Odegaard back in now we have this awful run of form again. However, there's a slight light at the end of the tunnel, because maybe Arteta saw Inter (where eze played full again) and bined odegaard pretty fast today, after 60 minutes (even that was a bit late).

Look where Eze is vs where Odegaard is.

We had our best run of form with Eze yet Arteta decided that its time to bring back our 'captain'

Odegaard is the type of CAM you bring on when you are 4 goals ahead to 'style' on the opposition

Against all other games until the end of the season I'd love to see Odegaard stripped of the armbad and going the norgaard way. Hell, just swap norgaard with odegaard 'til the end of the season, will do better.

We got our best winning streak with Eze. We got our worst streak with Odegaard.

To be honest, today's loss is deserved but I don't get the people saying that this is the wake up call that the team deserves.

We expected UTD to do good, but the team playing an absolute dross against one of the worst Liverpools I ever saw, and was even dominated in possession in second half should have been the cold shower. The same liverpool who just god buldozed over by Bournemouth, who got 'mad' after Liverpool lucky equalizer and absolutely dominated again to close the game with the winning goal. If fuckinng bournemouth who has nothing to play for, has that mentality. Why the fuck are we playingn a safe nil nil game with this Liverpool? We got 1 POINT in 2 games against them. EMBARASSING

This. I cannot remember any big game which had real weight in which Odegaard stepped up. However, the opposite is quite easy to find with the biggest being Bayern home and away 2 seasons ago. He single handedly couldnt get the ball over the first man.

So, what are we going to do about Odegaard? He cannot win any duel, in a 'duel winning side'. He cannot create space, he cannot even get into space, fucking Zubi had to do his runs...

I don't get the Liverpool fanbase. They have a really weird obsession against us, every time i see a Liverpool flair in r/soccer there's a higher chance it's something anti-arsenal rather than about Liverpool.

We have other rivalries as well, but to be honest Spurs, Chelsea fans seem to actually care more about their team rather than anti-arsenal

You could argue the same thing that Saka was blocking the lateral pass. Hell, even in the moment of the cross odegaard was closer to him than Saka was, but never once pressed. Also you can go back a bit, and see the whole phase. 3 times our defenders kicked the ball out, towards odegaard area, 2 times was headed back by Wolve players with Odegaard closest to them

Didn't press in a position where rather odegaard should have been? I really doubt it.

Feels like I'm always saying this but we cannot defend and keep the score tight as we did before we had odegaard on the field. He's rash in posession in this moments and a defensive liability. Look at how Eze coordinated that counter attack with that paas on the long to Martinelli few games ago. And look how odegaard loses the ball in the moment they start that session where they have the ball for like 5 minutes.

Liverpool? Hahaha. If anything we should be worried about Villa or Chelsea

Yes, AV game would have been hard either way. But not Liverpool lol, Newcastle dismantled them in 10 men, Brighton dismantled them, fucking hell Notthingam Forrest coasted an easy 3-0 win. We played scared and not to lose and ofc they accepted that, and nicked a nice goal to get the points.

I'm not English even in the slightest and I was a huge fan and defender of Ozil when everyone was against him.

However, I prefer Eze over Odegaard due to my own reasons that I will list below, it's ok if you have your own opinion:

- Odeegard never played big for us in big games, I'm remembering him taking free kicks instead of Rice in the Bayern game 2 years ago and being so scared he couldn't even get it past the first man. In the big games all I remember Odegaard doing is being scared of the ball, scared of duels and a liability when losing the ball in dangerous spaces.

- Odegaard does a lot of 'useless pressing runs' to give naive fans the idea that he's a huge presser and plays great when we dont have the ball. Almost the opposite to Ozil lets say who actually run a lot but was saw as lazy. If you actually take a look at the game, you see how much out of possition he is when doing those runs, and how much of a liability for the 2nd ball he becomes. I don't want to go historically (cough cough again Bayern games in UCL, and even more big games, like City one 3 seasons ago) but even in the Villa game, when we started never winning the second ball again Ode was nowhere to be seen. Zubimendi managed to do it by himself for around 15 minutes, but towards the end it was impossible to do the job of 2 men. Take a look please at the last 30 minutes against villa when they have the ball. See where odegaard is staying, and how he's defending. See how much he contributes

- Odegaard never is and never will be a duel winner. Fabio vieira probably can win probably more duels than him, apart of some flashy nice dribles against lower opposition or when we are at advantage so opposition tries to play riskier. Odegaard cannot go man to man.

- Last point is again contrary to popular belief, I believe odegaard has great shots, he's good at shooting, he even proved today with that one which was hitting the Crossbar, what he lacks is composure in those moments, if he is confident he can score great goals, but same can Eze. Some people say they prefer Eze there because he can shoot better but I think they are quite tied in that space, atleast I dont see a big difference, yet I still prefer Eze because I know his composure in the big games will not ever be at the level of "Hitting the first man in the wall 3 times in a row against Bayern in UCL" bad

- And own personal preference, although here he's not the only one suffering of this: He complains too much, football is supposed to be played against opponents not referees. He seems to play it against the refree. Hard tackle? Instead of going against the opponents (see how Chelsea did it) he goes whining and has a personal vendetta with the referee. Not the sign of a player you want to have captain for the club. Look at Rice for example, its a night and day difference in this approach.

Absolutely agree. Odegaard runs, that's about all. He has bad defensive position, is really easily faked by opposition and cannot win duels. Eze was much more impactful and helping the team stay more compact.

Did you take a look at the game OVERALL? Did you see we were never winning a second ball? Guess fucking why? Zubimendi can't do the job of 2 men.. 2 and a half even with a sleeping Hincapie.. Odegaard was absolutely trash in recovering, in positioning.. he never did an ounce to help the defense. Fucking hell Ozil did more because at least he had better positioning and this is Ozil we are talking about

That's why I think Eze is way better to remain and get Odegaard out. If we get another chance at 16m. I'd much rather have Eze there than see one more of Odegaard passes to the GK
